Default WC setup help :)

I finally started buying water cooling parts!!

So far I have:
- Swiftech 240 rad
- Swiftech micro-res
- 5/8" masterkleer tubing

So far I need:
- D-Tek FuZion V2
- D5 Vario pump
- Barbs

So my question is, can I get 5/8" barbs for my block and rad? I don't know how barbs are sold or anything. And will this tubing work with the res?

Not too familiar with water cooling yet

Thanks!!

Are you sure you have masterkleer tubing?

I'm sure they do sell G1/4bspp 5/8 barbs, but If I were you, I wouldn't go on a european fishing expedition for them, as it's not worth the effort. Pickup nice G1/4 1/2" barbs and 1/2" tubing.

Now just to clarify something.
Are you sure thats not 5/8 od tubing?
Meaning 1/2" ID and 5/8 Od.
If thats the case, it should fit 1/2" barbs

Where did you pickup the masterkleer?

That Masterkleer tubing is 7/16" ID and 5/8" OD, which fits nice and snugly around G1/4 1/2" barbs. I know, I'm using that exact combination. Takes a few seconds of warming the ends of the tubing in hot water, but they go on and are very snug.

Ah. Okay I didn't read the thread all the way

It's 5/8" OD tubing. So that means the ID is...... 7/16?
As you said afzsom?

So then I just need 1/2" barbs for my block, and rad?

It could be mean 1/2" for ID or 7/16.
No biggie, either one would work with 1/2" barbs. Yes, pickup 1/2" barbs from online-watercooling shops, not any local hardware stores.

Awesome. Thanks so mych guys

One more thing... How does the coolant mixture work? What's the ratio of distilled water - coolant - anti corrosion? If that's even right...

I have no idea.

Anti-corrosive is essentially an antifreeze, so you'll want to mix that at a 9:1 or 10:1 (water:anti-corrosive) ratio. Too much anti-corrosive and you start degrading the thermal capacity of the water.

Okay, so it's almost all distilled (or deionized) water?

I wouldn't be too concerned if it's the perfect ratio.
Yes, almost all distilled

Okay sounds great!!

You think this 240 rad will be enough for a Q6600 loop? Because i have a high VID I only got it to 3.2 so it's not an extreme overclock. With the air cooler I have now, my load temps were around 60°C. I would assume this WC loop would drop that dramatically...
