Did you shake it up a little to see if there was an air pocket in it? Do you have the newer DDC's, the 3.2's? If you have the new ones and put a top on it designed for the old DDC with the larger ringed intake hole in the pump top it can do that..If thats the case just scrape off the little ring around the inlet with a razor blade or something and it wont rub it anymore..

You might just have a little piece of crud in it to..The only moving part in it is the impeller, and it rides on a ceramic bearing..

trial and error shows that this is just with the dual bay reservoir. When used with an EK 250, the loud clicking disappears. any ideas why?

It could be bubbles that are trapped in the dual bay resevoir that just make it seem that the pump is clicking
EK res might bleed better, hence why only water is going through the pump and not air.
I know my bay resevoir's take more time to bleed, so be patient.

Thats weird..What was it doing acting as a echo chamber? Maybe if you fill it to the top it wont do it...Or maybe it wasn't the pump clicking???

I am only going by what seems logical.
If it just the resevoir change that is being replaced that is altering the noise, than I am only assuming that it isn't bleeding properly, which means bubbles/air could be trapped behind the pump, which may sound like a clicking noise, but actually be oxygen trying to move out of the pump

I will have to look into it more when I install it into my loop. As it stands now, with the EK it makes bubble clicks and with the dual bay res, it makes mechanical clicks.
