Would those fat boy high flow barbs work as replacement barbs for the Apogee GTZ and BIX rads?

They will help but the restriction rates offered by barbs are virtually nonexistent...

So what's the point of "high-flow" barbs, then?

all g1/4 barbs r 3/8 of an inch MAX ID at the thread point. they usually measure, at least 4 the bitspower 1's i use, 7/16" ID on the connection side. i don't know if any1 has done any pressure testing, but i think martin should

i'm also willing 2 bet it acts like a venturi... tho i could b wrong.

for the same reason people get a bigger radiator, because it can only help. Also, larger barbs cling to the tubing better and are more likely to resist leaks at the barb area if you choose to use zip ties or not use any sort of clamping at all.

i thought high-flow barbs were designed differently so that the water is "accelerated" into the component... explains why the design makes the barb have a angle vs the fat-boy barbs where its just fat all around with no angle at the ends...

Once I get the money for water blocks.....

I plan on using an automotive [front end radiator]!!! as well as a pond pump.

This is because not only do I have most of the parts(other than water blocks) but you can get these parts for less than the price of a "traditional" water cooling system from a junkyard and hardware store.

It will surely beat "ye olde fridge idea", and nobody had better beat me to it as a "fresh idea" (although I'm sure it's been done once before)

Tell me that a triple core radiator from a 198x chevy/ford can't MORE THAN COOL a computer with minimal fan count (if any) (maintaining ambient temp with small/few fans under load).....

On a comical note, maybe I should install the radiator into the furnace to "conserve energy by "heating" the house""

When, and WHEN I finally make "the move" I will be going BIG, it's all a matter of when...

As an obvious point (I just added the 2 120mm fans to keep up)(I added the 2 8800's and overheated to "kapoot"), I AM SICK OF AIR COOLING!!!, I even had to add a second PSU just to drive "the turbine"

This is what I HAD TO MUTILATE

You are breety much wrong. It is true that heatercores or "radiators for cars" have great cooling potential, but it comes at a greater amount of noise. People have in fact, used heatercores as a cheap alternative to purchasing PC radiators and it has worked well. With a heatercore you also have to make your own shroud, weld your own barbs, and paint it yourself to make it presentable. As for the pump, you could not be further from the truth. The pumps like the MCP355 or 655 have been optimized for PC cooling use. The truth is, while more powerful pumps help, it quickly becomes an increase in performance so little that the effectiveness of the waterblock cooling the cpu is completely overwhelmed by the thermal dump of a powerful pump. People have been using pond pumps for quite sometime now. In fact, my first 2 pumps were pond pumps...Aqua Via 1300 and 1600. Pond pumps are meant for under water use. As a result, pond pumps sometimes burn up their impellars prematurelly. They are cheap but they also require the use of barb adapters.

well i'm almost positive he's talkin about a radiator like this...

...not a heatercore

i'm also thinkin he might use it as fan-less 4 a no-noise solution. sure he'll have 2 make fittings and blah blah blah... as 4 a shroud - autozone
