Question 2nd rad between CPU - VGA : is it worth?

I'm having an E8500 with a 4870 watercooled mainly with a PA120.3 and a D5. Yet, i was wondering to install a second rad between the cpu and the vga. My options (due to the case) for this 2nd rad are either one 120 or a 240 rad.

My question however is if the extra cost is really worth. Ofcourse the e8500 is going to be overclocking around 3.8Ghz (and even more if it's stable on the Asus Evolution), but on the other hand, you have a PA120.3 on push/pull...

To cut the story short, what temps would you expect with:
1. Just the PA120.3
2. PA.3 + 120
3. PA.3 + 240

Thanks in advance

OK, I would say a 120 is not worth it but a 240 is. Martin did some testing and found dual rads is not that restrictive. (less so than a NB block, for instance)

The pump you have is plenty for that as well. Actually, I am looking to add either a 360 rad or a PA160 to my existing 240 and add in my GFX card.

Well post ur temps your getting now, otherwise its hard to compare what would change.

In reality the heat dump from your cpu isnt much as the water is circulating so fast, in other words 2 radiators set up right after each other would actualy be better for pressure.

I don't have the system ready, i'm buying it next week a long with the watercooling parts, hence i'd like to decide on the loop before setting it up. Obviously, if i see that the vga is running around 50C, i'm installing the second rad...

Well im not sure off hand but check around the site, its been asked before.

Testing was done and i believe* that there was little differnce in temps when the loop went....pump>rad>cpu>Rad>gpu....

but the flow is better when the rads are in a row...pump>rad>rad>cpu>gpu....

Pretty much the better flow should give you better temps in the end all.

My loop is pump>240rad>240rad>cpu>gpu>NB.....

temps with a 68f ambient are great...40ish load on cpu, 44c load on gpu, nb still only 35c

Do you suggest putting the X48 in the loop too?

But in that case, the volt stabilizers and the SB will not be cooled by the passive heatsinks...
(as you see the Evolution default cooler is one piece)

if u want 2, go 4 it. u'll have 2 get some heatsinks and fans 4 the other stuff that isn't gonna b WC'd. or u could get more WC blocks and cool all ur mobo components. depends what u feel comfortable doing and how much money u want 2 spend.
