Default Placement of WCing parts

I was thinking to do something like this...mount the pump (d5 vario) in the bottom of the case, hang the rad out front, and put the rez between the HDD and CD drive... is that a particularly bad idea? I mean as long as I leak test like its going out of style and properly use good clamps..then I should be ok...right?

I know I know the case isnt done yet...but planning doesnt hurt :P

I am more interested in a "chip in the brain"-solution and a F@H client that runs on it. People could use the idle cycles of their brains to fold.

It's fine. The only loop order that is strongly recommended is res before pump and you have done that. The D5 can be mounted in that manor and nothing else really cares how it is positioned.

Its not a bad idea as alot of people mount their pump where u suggested , thats normal, as for the radiator I suggest mounting it on the top of your case or for better temps get a rad box and mount it to the back of your case, $6 for a radbox from petrastechshop.com

This case wont allow for a rear 120mm fan , thus the idea to put it out front..

The only real issues regarding position with W/C is the pump orientation (some have ways they don't want them oriented) and the highest feature in the loop. IMHO the res or a fillport should always be the highest feature in the loop so that bubbles have a place to rise to other than something like a rad or block.

Think ill go ahead and get one of those.

That case was just going to be a test case for the WCing, so I didn't really want to drill into the top cover or further modify the rest of it for the sole purpose of watercooling.

Change of plans though, the guy im working on that case/computer for wants it back sooner now...so this is all just going to have to wait until I can put everything in my system.. boo.

Nice mate glad youve got everything planned out, Remember you want your fans on the rad like this (Airflow)<---(FANS)(Shrouds)(Rad)(Radbox) Also remember using shrouds do help alot, if you cant find any scrap 120x38mm fans as they work the best find some 120x25mm fans as having shrouds is better then having no shrouds

from the look of things you can probably mount the rad inside on the top of the case. just move the dvdrom down.

unfortunately this box won't be living with me much longer so the wc build is going into my TTsoprano. I think when I get a chance I'm going to start a build log for it, call it project "soprano" lol. I'm writing this on my phone so sorry for the lack of pics.

I'm doing a hot pink colored loop with the 220rad with two 38mm fans pulling through 25mm shrouds, with the micro rez and the swifty d5 vario.

If that gives you an idea, feel free to recmmend placements. There is room on the top to mount the rad, and I was planning on sticking the pump in the bottom in the hdd cage, as there is an intake fan right there to keep it cool.

Pics to follow, probably a project log. Suggestions on names?
