But I will say that I get close to those on my Q9650 at STOCK speed also. my stock speed at 3.0 Ghz on the Tuniq with it's stock fan I get around 27c idle.

also Oc'n Noob.. I see you said you have the BIX360, and your Q9450 at 3.2 Ghz. and you said that the idle is around 37-40c... personally that would not make me happy. (I'm not trying to bash ur system at all though, so don't take offense. I'm just trying to justify).

I know the idles aren't what matter. and the loads are what matter. but your saying 37-40 idle and 52c load at 3.2 ghz on the Q9450.. I know I have a different chip. but I'm getting that a 4.0 ghz.

With my Tuniq Tower Lapped I have my Q9650 at 4.0 Ghz and idle temps are Currently with FF3 open with 3 tabs, and other screen has the News playin live feed. my sort of idle temps are 37/34/34/34 and thats at 4.0 ghz on AIR. then the blend load temps get to 51c but small FFT's get a lil higher. these results vary with the Room temps also. but currently it's around 75F in my room.

Just saying this for the comparison.. I'm going to try the TRUE and see how it goes.. and not til Monday.. ****!!!!
Wow.... did you read my post at all? I am using a GTX 360 first of all... NOT a BIX 360. There is a huge difference there. I am not only cooling a quad core CPU, but also a dual gpu video card that outputs as much heat as the cpu itself. My room temperature is about 78F and since I use nothing but Scythe S-Flex E fans (49CFM), the ambient INSIDE my case where my radiator is located, is 31-32C. Basically I am using 21dBa fans to cool the equivalent of two 3.2GHz Q9450's at a delta T of 10C give or take at a total system noise level of under 30dBa (pump is about 26dBa itself). The reason that I am at 3.2GHz is, unlike benchmark junkies, I find no practical difference for myself between 4GHz and 3.2GHz. I challenge you to get anywhere near 10C delta T on a TRUE with anything less than a 35 dBA fan at those clocks with a Q9450.

If I wanted to increase my chip to 4GHz, I could easily do so with a vcore of 1.4. However, doing that will needlessly increase the temps and electricity consumption since I do not notice any difference in real life application.

I understand that you are wanting to feel good about your purchase of a TRUE and I totally respect that. It is a great heatsink, one of the best of there if not the best. I do not understand is, how you would take my post and totally trash it without even truly trying to understand what I wrote. Once again, let me dissect my post for you.

- I am cooling a Q9450 OC'ed from 2.66GHz to 3.2GHz at 1.225v and a stock HD4780 X2 in the SAME loop with a 360GTX and DDC3.2 with an XSPC acrylic top
- With a stock cooler, the HD4870 X2 gets up to 85C easily, making it the thermal equivalent of about another stock Q9450
- My entire loop is composed of Scythe S-Flex E fans, raited at 21dBa/47CFM and yes those ratings are pretty close.
- My room temperature is around 28C, my case internal ambient is around 30-31C, and my idles are around 36C.
- My delta T or change in temps from idle to 24 hours of full load is 10C.

Plain water can't go sub-ambient, even if you stick the radiator outside, it's still not going to go below ambient. You'll need a TEC or phase change cooling to go sub-ambient, but then you also need condensation-proofing.

room temperature = ambient

sorry to confuse you...i wen't sub ambient last winter with air cooling, i had my pc sucking winter temps....i don't need tec..nor phase change...

Anytime your temps are below ambient temperatures, you develop the risk of condensation. It is just how nature works.

if you have enough air flow around that cold area...condensation will be avoided... i've tried it. up to now..i have not had condensation.
