Default nub builds a bong

Hello all, I'm a newbie to these forums. After reading Nol's guide to bongs, I decided to build one for myself. I am using a coleman cooler as a resevoir and 4" pvc pipe for the tower. Rather than using a wye or tee fitting to branch off for a fan, I cut 2 holes into the top of the cooler lid to mount 2 yate loon fans blowing into it. I cut another hole to stick the pvc pipe into. There was an existing hole in the front of the cooler for draining it. I removed the push type valve that was there and installed a 1/2" brass ball valve. To stabilize my pvc tower I used epoxy to glue a 4" pvc coupling to the bottom of the cooler.
I am currently testing it for leaks and also to see what kind of temps I can get from it with no heat load (well besides my pump.)
With ping pong balls filling up 2' of my pipe I am getting about 8F to 9F below ambient. I noticed that my water temps are the same with a 4' tower as they are with a 6' tower, which surprised me.
I am considering using chux cloth inside my tower instead of ping pong balls (borrowed idea from volenti's chuxevap) but am wondering about possibility of the chux being a breeding ground for critters in my water supply.
What I am wondering about is
1. my temps. How much closer to the dew point can I reasonably expect to get? If i go to a 2 stage cooler would I see much more drop in my temps?
2. the chuxevap. Does anybody here have any experience with that sort of design for an evaporative cooler?
thanks for any and all advice / input

Sounds like fun!!!..Dirty Duck here is running a bong, hopefully he'll see this and be able to help you out a little, I know he's tried several different things in his tube to get more surface area, I really don't remember what all he's tried now..Hey, do you have any pic's? We love pic's...

I have actually been talking to Dirty Duck about this for a little while now. Has been a very big help
About pics, I don't have a real camera. But I got a disposable one and am taking pics as I go along on the build. Will post them when it is finished and I get them developed. I am waiting on a few odds and ends from newegg, but should have it finished by end of next week. Expecting to have them posted by next weekend at latest.

not sure if that pic worked or not, but is of a rig built by Volenti a couple years ago. Once I get my first bong up and running I'd like to try one of these.

Yea.. well I have tried that and still cant get any further. It says it want a web site address for the picture and I have the pic on my computer. So what you are saying is dont fill out that part. Just go to the file where the picture is and select it.
