Default D4 vs D5

Petra's has got D4's for $29.95, 4/$99.95.
http://www.petrastechshop.com/lad4in12vdcp.html

The specs say

Maximum Head: 10 ft. (3.1 m)
Maximum Discharge: ~ 317 GPH (1200 LPH)

D5's specs:

Maximum Head: 11 ft. (3.35 m)
Maximum Discharge: ~ 317 GPH (1200 LPH)

But it costs $79.99!

Why is the D5 worth so much more for 1 foot of head? I take it there is more to it than just that...

Ooops!

The reason has nothing to do with stats, it's to do with noise !

The blue D4 is noise as! while the D5 is super quite. They dont make the d4 anymore. i didn't know you could still get them ?

Yes, the D4 has a bit more of an electronic buzz to it than the D5 does and, therefore, is much more noticeable... but I still don't see how anyone could consider a D5 on setting 5 quiet. Now, a properly isolated dB-1 pump I would rank as 'very quiet' but a D5? hah.

Don't mean to sound rude but have you ever owned a D5? A properly mounted D5 is dead silent. The main problem with the D4 is that it emits a high pitched sound that can push alot of ears to insanity. Beyond that, it is a great pump.
