Default [Work Log] HAF WC Build

Here is a thread of my current water cooling build. Some old parts, some new. I wanted a bigger case, bigger radiator, and have the entire system be housed inside. I chose the HAF because the price was good and it was made to house a 3x120mm radiator comfortably up top on the inside. I'm holding off on water cooling the video card at this time. Might step it up soon, we'll see.

New Parts List

Case: Cooler Master HAF 932
Radiator: MCR320-QP
Resevoir: Bitspower 5.25" Bay Reservoir
Tubing: Tygon 7/16 I.D. - 5/8 O.D.
Lighting: Logysis Cold Cathode 12" Blue

Old Parts List
Pump: MCP655
CPU Block: D-Tek FuZion v1 w/ quad nozzle
Rad Fans: 6 x 120mm Yate Loon

I've also got a Corsair TX850 PSU coming for this build as well. The other parts in my sig will be transferred to this new build minus the old radiator and PSU.

First off, I needed to paint the interior of the case. Cooler Master was not kind enough to put the black on the inside as well, cheapskates. I used black auto primer and then Krylon satin black.

Put front and back fans in and semi-reassembled the case. Drilled two holes in the bottom of case inside the hard drive cage to bolt down the pump. Installed pump and bottom case fan. Attached some old tubing and put in a HDD just to make sure of clearance and tube routing.

Finally got my tubing and reservoir from UPS. Installed the radiator with 6 fans in push pull, blowing up and out of the case. Kind of a pain because I had to come down from the top of the case with 1.25" screws, through the top fans, and into the radiator. Lining up the holes was difficult for the first few screws. Once I had some in, it went a lot easier. After that, I installed the CPU block on the motherboard and mounted the motherboard. Then I routed the tubing. This is my first time using Tygon and it is way more pliable than Masterkleer, I think I like it better except it costs too much. Took this picture with cell phone camera and it sucks. Will go back to regular camera.

Tightened up the hose clamps and filled the system. No leaks!

This single bay reservoir looks great, but it is a pain to bleed. The fill port is in the top center and I think it would be better if it was on the left side where the bubbles collect on the outlet side. Going to let in run overnight and see what it looks like in the morning.

Bleeding just wasn't happening so I went and got a couple of brass fittings this morning and made my own fill tube. This way I can actually get water into the system to replace the escaping air. Now it's bleeding way faster.

Finished Product...for now...

When you did the inside of the HAF, did you totally disassemble the case? I've been considering this case for some time now, and I'm thinking of getting it black on the inside, as well. Thing is, I really don't want to mess up my case by not disassembling it correctly.

I disassembled it as far as I could without removing the pop rivets. I didn't want to get into that. Surprisingly I could get to every part of the case, even the area between the front panel and the hard drive cage. It actually came out better than I expected.

By the way, to take off those big top and side case fans, you need a metric size allen wrench.

Oh yes, the force is strong in that one.
The only reason why I wont go for the HAF is that its not aluminium.

You were able to just take screws out to remove the bays? Nice. I should have a couple hex-keys around somewhere, but would it be hard to use if they're small?

By the way, what did you use when painting?
