Default Rad question

What would be better. a mcr320 or a BIX240? I will be using zalman zmf3's, but i could get that sharkoon silent eagle 2000rpm's (that golf ball fans) aswell as 1650rpm yate loons.

I will be adding this to my current loop. This will cool my cpu (swiftech apogee) aswell as my gpy (mcw60 - might be 2 blocks)

Thanks for any advise.

Hi.

I don't have any direct experience with either of those radiators, but I think that I would go for the MCR320 for the surface area (Unless the BIX is a deep-radiator).

Certainly for the thermal load that you intend to place on the loop, a 360 is advisable, perhaps larger; or perhaps a secondary smaller rad placed before the GPU's in the loop.

Thnx for the reply m8.

In one of our local forums i've placed a "wanted" add in the classifieds. A guy offered me a mcr220. Considering the BIX will cost me $120+ & the mcr220 will probably be in the area of $50.

I know it costs less new, but this is SA were talking about. I currently have a mcr220 in my loop. So the new loop will be something like this. T-line>laing ddct-01s>mcr220>mcr220>Apogee>mcw60/maybe 2>T-Line.

Will this be sufficient to give me good temps?

You don't need all those rad's for just cpu/gpu loop in my opinion.

and I would go pump>220>CPU>220>gpu>t-line

I would like the coolest possible temps, for the lowest possible cash outflow. the mcr220 won't cost much, & i won't get one again for a very long time.

I will cool my 8800gt for the time being, but if the 4890 will supoort the mcw60 i'll get that, if not i'll get a 4870 1gb.

This will go in my antec 900, so space is limited & the best/cleanest setup will be T-Line>pump>rad>rad>cpu>gpu>T-line & according to a few threads i've came acroos the temp rise in the fluid is minimal, so my gpu temps won't suffer much if any, or am i wrong.

BIX rads are 40mm deep. now i dont know how deep the MCR is but i do know the BIX series are good rads.

Yah. That is a good recommendation.

Also, Where is SA (South Africa)? You may be dealing with higher year-round ambient temperatures, so if you could squeeze a 360 (prior to CPU block) from your budget and into the case that would be preferable, imho.

...just a thought...

I agree. drop one of the 220s and replace it with a 360! If you just keep adding small rads you will start killing your flow rate and that's one of the things that helps you cool. I would say 1 rad per block at the very most...if you had that 360 you could add another gpu block and still be good to go with just the 2 rads.

LOL, soz i always forget, most of you think South America, but it's South Africa. During the summer ambient in my room can go above 25 degrees C.

I already modified my antec 900 to get the mcr220 in my case (removed hdd cages & made my own hdd cage)

The most aesthetically pleasing will be 2-240 rads. I already got a swiftech radbox & primochill blue uv duy bomb on it's way here from performance-pcs.

If i get anything else i will have to import & thats just s plain ***** to do, because they hammer you with customs etc. here. There's not one shop here that sell any watercooling stuff, except the usual coolermaster aquagate & TT big water nonsense.

What is the typical humidity in SA? If it is usually under 50 percent relative humidity, you should look into bong coolers. Over 50 percent humidity they are still more effective than radiators, but in an arid climate the performance gap widens.
edit: I use a bong chiller on my intel rig. My water temps are very nice, and I live in a very humid city
