Default 90* Fittings

Does anyone have either of these?

I need to get a few for my gtx 275 blocks and need to know if the ones that rotate (2nd link) are necessary.

The second one is better.

The first one will only point in the direction that it ends up facing after being screwed. It could point totally point in the wrong direction and there's no way to fix it.

The second one is in 2 parts so it could separate on you. It very rarely happens but it happened to me.

Best option is to avoid them altogether unless you really have to.

See the thing with 90 degree fittings is that you lose flow rate.

Is there any way you can buy an MCW-R60 waterblock + adapter for your GTX 275?

ya i saw martins test results. one 90* fitting = 4ft of tube. But i believe his test was with the older nylon fittings and not with the metal ones. I would hope that the newer metal ones have abetter flow rate than the nylon ones.

i can tell you that even the newer ones will kick the crap out of your flow rate. i'll try to get some more testing in so you can get an idea.

alrighty, i did a really really quick test to give you an idea of how much 1x 90 degree fitting will kill your flow. the images can do the talking.

the setup: has 2x 45 degree fittings to keep flow meter straight and no 90 degree fittings.

flow rate:

90 rotary fitting+barb

flowrate:

L block+barb

flowrate:

45 fitting + barb

flowrate:

2x 45 fitting+barb

flowrate:

a quick note about the barbs and tubing that i used. it was the same one all around and the only thing that was added was the 90degree fitting or the L block. as you can see.. just 1x 90 will knock out around 0.2GPM. now this 0.2GPM is a guesstimate as i do not have a digital reader and you kind of have to eyeball it.

thats not bad at all, i wouldnt even worry about .125 gallons lost in flow unless you are a flow freak like ira-k

Martin said it was alright if I got those bitspower 90º, and I have 2 in my loop, and I still get fine temps all across and didn't notice any bad side effects. He said the older ones are the ones are "1 90º = 4ft" I do use the XSPC pump top tho, if I had stock top I might not have gotten the fittings....

yea, i guess its not that bad in all honesty but i hate restricting flow when i don't need to.

wait.. those are 90s? those look like 45s?

EDIT: since my setup is still standing, i'll test the 45s and see how those fare against the 90s.
