Default [Work Log] Le' Shrimps Mountain Machine

Just put everything on order so I figured I might as well make a work log thread.

1x MountainMods Pinnacle 24 with quad rad cutouts on the top and tri rad cutouts on the front for 120mm rads.

1x Intel E8600 revision E0 (overclocks like a champ 5.5Ghz+ easy)

2x 1GB OCZ Flex II 2000mhz ram (Will be replacing SOON )

2x XFX GTX 285 1GB gfx cards

1x EVGA 790i Ultra mobo

1x 480 GTX radiator

4x 103 CFM Panaflos
Will most likely cannabilize some old fans for shrouds or I may order some glowy led ones

1x Zalman 6 channel fan controller

1x 950 watt coolmax modular PSU

1x 500gb WD 32mb cache HDD

1x MCP355 with the XSPC top ver 3.0

15 feet of primoflex black tubing (got extra for when I order the 360 GTX and put my gfx cards in the loop)

1x Heatkiller socket 775 rev 3.0

1x magicool 150ml 3 port resevoir

I am going to start updating this post instead of creating new posts with updates in them.

Update1: Cut some holes for the two UV light switches in the front 5.25 panel. I made one hole a tiny bit too big so I had to break out the mig welder and put some small tacks on there to later grind off again with the dremel, hopefully this time to the right dimensions.

Working on a shroud for my BIX 480

Here is the modification to the hard drive mount... Apparently it mounts through the 120mm fan holes... Thanks for including instructions MM!

Need to get this thing mounted.

Here is my idea for a desk with the TV modeled in there. I am having fun with sketchup =p. The desk is 11'x5'. I am thinking about cutting a plate that will fit up under the glass probably about 1 inch space between the glass and the cut plate. The plate will have a crazy design like a circuit board or something that I am designing right now. I will throw some channel on it and a backplate and then load it with some red led's inside it so it glows red up through the glass.

This doesn't have anything to do with my build but could you point me toward a guide on how to get my overclocks verified ira? I have a few hz I have hit that I am proud of and I never got them verified, was planning on hopping on the old stress bench and giving my hardware a workout this weekend.

Sure. Download this..CPU-Z ..What I do is when I make it to desktop I open up CPU-Z to the last tab "About" and save a validation file to a USB drive. Then to validate just hit the go to validation option on the last page. Then it will ask you your name and for the validation file you saved, you upload it, and if you want to publish your results on-line, you do, just follow the instructions and when it takes you to the on-line validation it will show you your OC, name and all that. Just bookmark that page and you have your good as gold CPU-Z validation.

I usually just do a bunch of runs and each one that is better I over-write the older one on the USB stick, then when I'm done OC'ing and more stable I'll go to CPU-Z and do the validation. It sounds 10 times harder then it is to do.

Be sure to go to that site and look for new versions of CPU-Z, they come out with new ones all the time and they won't validate the older version if thats what your using. I've lost a few good OC validations from that.

I like saving to a USB stick as fast as I can in case I crash, that way it will still be accessable to me when I hit desk top again.

I've thought of using that same exact case setup when I rework my rig.

Definitely want to see that case filled up.

From the looks of the pics on their site it won't look too filled up. It's huge and only has 3 bay drives (I only need 2) and also from the pics look like it has no HD mounts unless it's one of the 5.25 bays. I was going to custom make a mount for it to go along with the case.

They sell some hd bays here: http://www.mountainmods.com/parts-dr...-21_34_65.html

They attach directly to 120mm fans, pretty neat stuff.
