I've just finished installing an Asetek WaterChill kit and need to test it, but don't know how to start the pump without powering on the PC.
Is it just a case of switching off the PSU, unplugging the motherboard and other components, plugging in the pump and switching the PSU back on? Regarding the FAQ on watercooling testing, there's a section about the Bleed Line that says you should unstopper it while testing for leaks and bleeding. Before I do this, won't it just cause the water to spill out of the bleed line? Or should you run the pump until the level drops and then stop the pump before unstoppering (!) the bleed line?

Okay man, to get the pump going with out the pc on you need to jump the green wire with the black wire on the 20 pin or 24pin atx cable.
Your bleed line should be facing up so you can use it as a res you should leave it open because you will constantly be filling the system up with water. here is the jumper you will need or make a DIY one out of some wire or anything to jump the wires http://www.frozencpu.com/psu-173.html

It really shouldnt go over, but if it does, as long as the computer isnt on your good. I have absolutly soaked my computer and it has been fine on all accounts.
If you dont want to take the risk, build a pvc res or buy a res. Pretty much your only options are to buy new stuff or to just try out the t line.

Is it the older style Waterchill system with the round res tank before the pump or the newer style unit with the inbuilt tank ?

It appears you will require the system (PC) running to fully test and setup the watercooling. OFF TOPIC : How quite are those new pump/res setups, do they resonate much in the case ? Is the USB hookup for the software easy going ? cheers

I'm afraid I don't know yet, xie67... By "I've just finished installing..." I meant "I'm going to have finished installing by the time this thread is dead and my question is answered..."
![]() I'll PM you my results when i'm done, if you like. *EDIT* I'm a little concerned by the suction cup feet on the pump, however... They don't look too secure. I might be tempted to rig a bunjee chord around it for extra security, if not just screwing the base plate into my case! *EDIT*
