The older Mustangs, 60' models, the front end was real light on them with a small block, they didn't handle that well. I drove one with a 429 in it a few times and it didn't have that slippy-slide front end feel to it. But almost all of them were small block 289-302, and the 302 Boss of course.

But you couldn't go wrong with a XR7, very nice cars.

Man back in the 60'&70's every police station in this country wanted the fastest cars....And a whole lot of them used Ford 390's with those dual 4 barrel intakes. I haven't seen one in years now though.

The good old days, now everything is computer controlled front end drive, it's hard to even work on them any-more, much less enjoy doing it. The old ones you could over-haul on the side of the road in a couple of hours..

It's still the good 'ole days, the difference is you need hands like a 10 year old and a diagnostic carputer now and dismount everything surrounding the engine to see anything.


I'm on it tomorrow and this weekend folks. The path is clear and all I have to do is find some spare time. It's tough being single, managing the whole household besides work. A friend humorously suggested a mailorder bride but those can, and probably will, backfire.

I managed to drill a couple of holes and install the fillports today. More brass. More headaches.




My $80 camera does that sometimes.^^ It actually shoots better vids than pics. Go figure.

Ports and O-rings. The O-rings was a choise I made to raise them up a bit and also make the mount a bit flexible. Feels alot better that way. Washers wouldn't have done the same job.







The ports are a bit offset compared to the reservoirs. I didn't like how they looked closer together on top there and I think it will look nice having the tubing slightly curved. Obviously the barbs needs to be shortened.

Looking good! That's a good way to de-couple your fill port mounts, that will take any vibration out to.

Polished up those caps will look spiffy.

I've used a product called XIM to coat polished metals with some success. XIM clear will bond to anything even glass and is a great undercoat for poly or whatever. So you only need to polish the brass one time.

Still not written in stone about the O-rings though. I think I can find some plastic gasket rings and test-fit those. I think the F80-F115 Mercs oil-plug gaskets will fit pretty good. I'll see about that tomorrow.

Thanks for the suggestion Cyber, the caps would need some type of sealant I'm sure. I'll look it up.
