Zwolf: Let the casemod commence. Si! Dreizehn: I got nipples! (fittings) Making the acrylic support for the quick release bulkhead. Fierzehn: Planning the case and destroying a MCR220. ![]() Funfzehn: Things are starting to show. Kinda, I made holes and found moar brass. For those of you who don't know what the heck I'm talking about: NorseRad is a radiator box for two XSPC RX480's that will work as a separate cooler and also as a pedestal for the Gentle Giant. . The builder and Master craftsman behind the piece is none other than CyberDruid. His build log here. ![]() So I was bored today and found some brass components to use down there, just a little teaser, no biggy. Just a cellphone pic though, sorry.![]() Here's the PSU to run the pumps and fans etc. I'll be surprised if it gets warm at all. It can put out 588W and holds 40amp load. ![]() ![]() Day 2 Today things started to roll for sure. Got most of the installation done. The wholesaw got plenty to do. First off the feeds: ![]() ![]() ![]() Then the returns: ![]() ![]() ![]() I did offset the left return a little because I wanted the 230V to enter on the side. It did the trick, the whole cabinet is symmetrical and I wanted something to break that off a little. Not decided upon what I'm using for a through-guide there yet. ![]() ![]() ![]() So now tha backside is finished drilling, next up the inside electrical: PSU in place. ![]() 25mm main feed to the busbars. ![]() ![]() And the busbars. Originally they were meant to sit on the backwall but for easy access and serviceability that plan was ditched. Hence the long cables on the previous pics. ![]() ![]() ![]() Switches and stuff. Got my lazy ass up and got some stuff done today. Maybe it was the inspiration from picking up a box at the mailoffice yesterday or sumthin'. Finally got the main feed through-hole issue solved. Quite happy with that and true to a somewhat nautical theme here. ![]() ![]() And drilled some more holes. For the frontpanel. Lots of measuring, would be a shame to screw that up. Four of these had to be made. ![]() Found some good and nice pull-out switches to put in them holes. Fits the theme like a glove man. ![]() ![]() ![]() Things are starting to pick up. Feels that way anyway. ![]() ![]() The everlasting sounddampening grief. The Druid sent along some ready cut Sonex. Which is white, and around 1" thick. That's a no go for now. At first I didn't think it would be so dominant but the more I look at it the more dominant it gets. Found this from the GG project and I'm seriously considering to taylor this fabric to the interior. Please talk me out of it..... ![]() Oh this is what came in the mail. ![]() I had the switches already though. Got it from Coolerkit Denmark. Nice peeps, excellent selection and they also sent along some bubblegum with the barbs. It took a whole week to get it here but that's all Norwegian Customs fault. Friggin' lazy communists, next time it's going to a friend in Sweden.Next up I'll be getting some fans for it. And sleeving(sheathing Mr.Druid), lot's of sleeving.

Today. Finally I was able to pick up the Triebs. It took two weeks to get them here from Holland. Mostly because of the swedish postal service. Man they are even worse than I expected. Anywhoo, here's what I got. Got to taste Doritos for the first time too. BBQ & Honey. Took me about 10 secs to empty that little bag. ![]() ![]() Here's what the boxes contain. From left to right: M3 and M4 bolts/nuts only threaded at the tip, Molex to 3-pin adapter, PWM chord, daisy-chain cable extension, a nice foreword from the producer and finally, the fan. Nice packaging for a fan to say the least. ![]() The front. Nice touch on that deep housing. Removes most of the fan-hub deadspot. You can also see the nice daisy-chain feature on top there. ![]() And back. Also the blade angle is quite aggressive thanks to the deep housing. ![]() The fan impeller sits quite high above the surface. ![]() Four of them mounted. No flash. I'm so happy we decided to polish the frame, CD. I almost shed a tear when I saw this. ![]() Flash ![]() ![]() All 8. Daisy-chained on the right side. ![]() ![]() ![]() And all 8 daisy-chained. 4 and 4 actually. The green tabs say: Achtung! Not more than 6 fans on each chain. PSU might be at risk. Blablabla. ![]() Front view before testing. Ofcourse I had to test them, what did you think? ![]()

Well, picked up the piece today and got a good overview of the project.
![]() This guy does not fool around. ![]() ![]() Tadaa! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I had a few minutes to start thinking about the placement of the components. ![]() ![]() ![]() Not sure about which side to place the PSU yet. Just look at those sidepanels...man. ![]() I just had to check out some proportions using my old 900. It looked a bit small there so with a TJ07 on top hopefully it levels out. ![]() ![]() I'll be doing some more stuff to it this weekend. Stay tuned!
