Is there a trick to priming a pump? I have my loop completely set up other than I get an air bubble in my pump and it doesn't seem like I am getting optimal flow (will post pics in a few minutes).

You need to have water flowing into the pump (preferably from a reservoir). Water pumps cant push air
![]() Make sure you leave the reservoir open to let air escape - "bleeding the loop"

Had a bad bubble in the pump... My line leading from the res to the pump isn't straight and has a slight bend in it... The bubble was getting caught... I eventually got the bubble out... man I don't know if I am going to be able to keep them out though... this pump stirs up the liquid in my res something fierce and causes the bubbles to mix in and sometimes get sucked down into the pump... posting a vid as soon as I get it uploaded.
Most likely says "video not processed" or something, give it a few minutes. The noise isn't from the system... it's from the two window units I have going full blast in the background.... It's hot in Louisiana this summer!

I always leave my D5/DDC pumps unmounted while I'm bleeding, that way I can shake it up a little to get the air out, once it's bleed I go ahead and bolt it down. I like to leave the rad unmounted for the same reason, then mount it once its bleed.
Once most of the air is out your res should stop sucking air back in. Just keep adding water as the air works it's way out.

Unfortunately the cap for the res has an inset in it... so no matter how much water I put in the res there is always going to be that pocket of air when I put the cap on... Planning on plugging it with a piece of rubber... Maybe I shoulda gotten a bigger res.

Can you add a barb to the top of that res? If you can just barb it and add a foot or two of tubing to it and fill through that, it should all eventually work its way out.
There is just a ton of air to work out of them when you first start up.Tilt your stuff around to work the air out.

What res are you using? If its threaded, use a barb on it, and throw a small piece of hose on it to keep fluid pressure on the fill hole. That way bubbles will eventually stop.
Im actually doing this at this very moment. Except Im doing it on the kitchen counter, without a waterblock. Since I bought most everything used, I wanted to make sure everything is working fine. Im running into the same issues you are. Just be patient. Is your pump speed adjustable? Turn the pump speed down to keep from forcing bubbles back into the loop. let it idle for a while. Make sure to tap the radiator to get bubbles loose as well. EDIT: Dang it ira-K, You beat me to it.

Stupid little magicool res.... no barbs on top... there will be once I get my hands on a drill and threading kit XD. No speed control either. It's not sucking bubbles down in to it anymore... VERY VERY tiny ones every once in a while but nothing to worry about.

Go find one of these to replace your current res top - pick up some stop fittings too and you'll be just fine.
