They are not the same thing.
Distilled is better to use than deionized water. Deionized water will try to gain back ions and will most likely take them from your block(s) (causing corrosion) Try your local grocery store for distilled water.

I got mine from wilkinsons, I've used the halfords stuff too though. Wilko is only 50p for a litre
And deionised only has the ions removed, so anything without a charge will remain. Distilled is more or less pure water with no other stuff in it. I'm having trouble finding distilled anywhere in the UK.

I would prefer distilled water too. Distilled water is everywhere in the US, not sure about UK.

Yea, I've heard it's a pain to find distilled water in the UK. God luck mate.

I'm pretty sure that the Kroger by my house has sold distilled water for years. Oh, and Kroger is a grocery store whos chain recently got much bigger but I am pretty sure thay sold distilled water over 15 years ago. What is wrong with the UK?

If you can't use anything else use the deionized. Distilled is also deionized (the distillation process leaves salts and other such in the waste) anyway, but I imagine deionized water probably is made from reverse osmosis, so organic contaminants that wouldn't survive distillation will survive deionization.
YMMV, I guess.
