Default How much difference from a push/pull

I have a swiftech320 rad with 3 scythe slipstream fans in push config at the moment. Idle core temps are around 41C. Just wondering how much of a temp drop some have noticed with similar components in a push/pull.

Thinking of buying 3 more of these fans but not sure if it is really worth the extra cash/noise/power usage.

I would highly recomend new fans first. Those slipstreams arnt ment for rads. There more for open case fans.

well the swiftech work good for low, medium CFM fans, I learned this from a lot of reading and personal experience. I put some Ultra kaze 120x38mm fans on it at 2000 RPM and the difference between 2000 rpm and 1000 rpm is 2-3șC at most, so I just leave them at 1000 rpm and I can hardly hear them also.

I would still suggest those though, they arent too loud at 2000 rpm either,

Like 88EVGA pointed out, the mcr don't need super high cfm fans to perform. You will get alot better temps with some half decent fans & with shrouds.

Some testing that ira-k did http://www.overclock.net/water-cooli...t-shrouds.html with & without shrouds aswell as push & pull configs with shrouds.

So your best bet will be to use some gutted fans as shrouds & new med cfm fans in a pull config.

i run everything at 12v as i don't have the room for a fan controller. So are you guys saying I should get some of those med flow fans and add them to pull from my rad with the slipstream fans pushing? or the other way around?

No, you should replace you current fans with then new fans. As the new fans are made for higher static pressure, and lower speed. They work much better with your radiator.

Its is a great idea also to add some fan shroud. the difference can be up to 5 degrees with shrouds.

I'd rather cut out the internals (the fan part) on the slip streams, use them as shrouds (the outer shell of the fan) & get other fans to use in a pull config.

EDIT, higher pressure plays a bigger role on high fin density rads, like the HW labs GTX series. On a MCR it won't affect your temps drastically. Best bet would be to get 1k ultra kazes & use the slipstreams as shrouds, or the 2k kaze.

so scythe ultra kaze 2000 is the popular recommendation it seems. Is there any negatives with the ultra kaze 3000 at full speed besides the noise? It seems like the 3000's are a bit cheaper than the 2000's.

Thanks again for the help...i'm planning on getting them and using the slipstreams as shrouds in a pull config...just need to figure out which speed fan now

Also, anywhere i can buy some screws that will fit through the 38mm fan and shrouds into thr rad?
