Question 4870 x2 Waterblock saves power?

I remember reading that the 4870x2 fans really knew how to put a load on the PSU. I can't seem to find it anywhere.

The reason I'm asking is because I have an 850W OCZ power supply and hope to crossfire two 4870x2's while watercooling one of them.

My loop takes out the CPU fan and one of the x2 fans, but it adds a pump and three 120 fans. What do you guys think?

The Waterblock won't save any power but it will reduce your card temps.

It'll take more power to run the watercooling than the air.

Fans use less than 3-8w of power each.

A basic pump uses 10-30w.

Neither have a major impact on most PSUs....

To answer most of your questions: (1) a fridge cannot cool a PC (2) 64-bit OS for over 3.4GB (3) If a PCIe card fits, it should work (4) Resolution, not screen size (5) If you have a question, it is not news (6) Report, not respond to Spam (7) Single-Rail/Non-Modular PSUs are not always better than Multi-Rail/Modular (8) Sequential does not matter as much as random for OS drives

The one fan is rated at about 20w I believe. A pump and three 120mm's will surpass that.

Does anyone remember where that post was that talked about how much the video card power consumption dropped once he switched to a water block?

I thought it was a lot more than 20W

Errr...Ahhh.. I don't think water cooling would inspire you to marry the local power company boss's daughter, get you into exploration for oil, robbing banks or have you littering up your yard with wind mills I don't think most peeps take the extra current used to run rad fans and water pumps instead of a HSF into that big a consideration (although I could be wrong, I know I didn't, other than making sure my PSU was up to snuff)

The bottom line here is at most we're talkin' a couple of USD bucks (if even that)

Please post that article about savin' money WCing. I want to go nahhhh.. to all the WCing detractors

IMHO there an't nothin' like a quality, efficient water cooling loop

What stock PC fans are rated for 20w?

Ultra high RPM Deltas are rated at 20-35w but those are no means stock fans...

There the heatsink fans on the dual gpu cards. Anyway.. it is getting close to 850W as my PSU fails with both cards maxed out.

It is not expensive because of the power consumption, its just expensive to buy another psu (1000W).

Anyways.. I will put my waterblock on one and compare. I'll post here if anyone cares
