Heatercores are cheaper and more efficient, you have to get a very large radiator to match the heatercore's cooling power.

the big difference that i think you're looking at is that a 'radiator' is manufactured specifically to be a radiator for a watercooling system. a 'heatercore' is what goes in, or has previously been in, a vehicle. a 'double heatercore' such as mine comes from a 1977 bonneville. the heatercores generally cool better than a radiator.

A "radiator" is made to fit common-sized fans specifically for computer watercooling. Heater cores are automotive. When you turn your heater on in your car, the heater core is using the heat from the water in the engine to heat the cab. They can be odd-sized and require modding in order to hook up certain sized hose. They are generally much larger and can dissipate much more heat than the typical radiator. They are also usually more efficient because they're most commonly made of copper which is a much better heat conductor than aluminum.
