I know how ya feel. I get worked up over the cable managment sometimes to the point I don't even wanna turn my rig on. For me not only does it have to be fast but it has to look fast lol. I have a desk as my case right now so cable management is a bit of a ***** x.x... the cooling is nice though =).

Well I bought some cable-hiding plastic pieces, painted them to match the wall, and then all of the cables didn't fit so I couldn't close the damn things lol. *DOH*
I think I need a good 4 day weekend to be able to get all this stuff taken care of once and for all! And by that I mean, taken care of until the 5970 is released and I have to take it all down again

I know you love doing drywall work so...why not run the cabling behind the sheetrock? You can use standard electrical boxes for the data cabling(like the ones for the AC receptacles at floor level) to let the cabling in and out. You could actually use deep boxes and hide plugs for USB or HDMI or whatever in the boxes behind the coverplate.
All you need to do is locate the stud and use a drywall saw to make a cutout tight to the box. Then use a string or wire to fish from box to box. Pull the fish line through a box, attach a box to the stud and now you can draw the cabling from box to box as required without opening the wall. There are a variety of covers for receptacle boxes even blanks that you could drill and grommet.
