Default Quick ??? MCP350 vs MCP355

First off i am still considering the MCP655 but just the way my case is laid out (NZXT Tempest) one of these pumps mounted in a XSPC Reservoir would be ideal for me. I got a few questions:

1. Is the MCP355 really that much louder? i have the 6 stock case fans running and if i wont hear a difference over them ill get this one.

2. Im only going to be running through the cpu block, if there is only going to be a few degrees difference between the pumps, ill probably just get the MCP350.

3. Now im going to eventually add a chpset and vreg block. Will two MCP350s hand this? ie its a double pump reservoir.

You overclockers have already helped me out so much thank you for that, i just need a little more help to reallly decide on my loop. just to point out, im really more interested in a quieter system than a supercooled beast. i do have a lot of fans running but they are all at half speed and very quiet.

my goal is to just have at least a 3.8 overclock on my i7 (which is where im at now with the CoolIt Domino) and keep it below 60c under normal usage, ie playing games or using my recording software.

The mcp355 isn't loud at all. When leak testing it I heard my PSU fan over it until I put my ear up next to the 355.

The heat the pump puts into the loop is minimal, don't let it decide which pump you get. The 355 has more head and to my knowledge more flow. It's a better pump for the same price, just get that.

1 355 should handle 3 blocks, maybe 4, no problem. But wc'ing a chipset and vreg is absolutely useless. If you're that paranoid about the temps of those, just buy an aftermarket aircooler for them. Don't add more heat/restriction to your loop. After buying all those waterblocks, you will need a better rad to coop with all that wattage.

cool that is what i was looking to hear
about the other blocks, my vreg sits in the high 70s, which is normal for this board, it still concerns me though, even if i do get those blocks it wont be for at least 6 months so i got plenty of time to think about it.
also any other opinions bout what im probably getting

CPU BLOCK: Heatkiller LT/LC or Apogee XT or Koolance CPU-350
RADIATOR: HWLabs Black Ice GT Stealth XFlow 240 or Swiftech MCR220-QP
TUBING: Feser 1/2" with BitsPower Nozzles
FANS: Scythe KAZE MARU 140mm / Scythe SlipStream 120mm

Just consider this stuff for a cpu only loop.

Just to comment, I have the 355 as well and do not find it to be loud either. Granted I do have an Antec Twelve Hundred.

Also, while the 355 does have a tremendous amount of head, much more then the 655, I am most certain (positive) the 655 has higher flow rates.

You are correct.

The 655 has a ridiculous amount of flowrate, but a small amount of head compared to its little brother.

If you get a good, custom top for the 355 it's the much better pump than the 655, if you're using it for multi-block solutions.

I'd get a 360mm radiator for an i7, though.

Most people would recommend 360mm's of rad for an i7, especially if it's not a PA, GTX or RX.

It has double the flow rate with 2/3 the head. Not a 'small amount'. 10 feet of head is still excellent.

In full disclosure, I must admit I have a 655 myself. It easily handles my CPU, video card, chipset, and two radiators.

I've had both the MCP350 and MCP355, and you won't notice either one over the sound of your hard drive and fans. The MCP355 is slightly noisier, but you won't be able to tell at all once it's in your case. The MCP350 will perform very well in a CPU-only loop. I recommend Martin's excellent Flow Rate Estimator to help you choose which model to purchase. That said, I currently own a MCP355 with an XSPC top. It easily handles my CPU/NB/GPU loop. If you've got plans to add blocks in the future, I would personally recommend the MCP355. Either pump is a solid choice.

well first off, thanks for all the help everyone, im gonna go with the MCP355 because itll just perform better than the 350 number one, and there's a good chance ill want to cool my chipset/mosfets/gpu in the future.

also i would prefer to get a triple radiator, but my case will only fit a double, and i dont want anything on top or hanging off the case. and it has to be thin like the Swiftech or Black Ice stealth. also, i have a coolit domino installed right now, and i am happy with the temps im getting right now and im oc'd to 3.8 (the coolit is only a single rad and cheap block and cheap pump) im only upgrading cuz of the horror stories of these leaking and im not in the mood to fry my brand new $1500 computer. sorry for the rant

anywayz does anyone know if you get the same benefits from putting the pump into this XSPC Res as you would get from this one
u have to remove the original top to install just like the other one, but i cant find anything about it giving you better performance. also if i get the bay one, i will literally only need 2 feet of tubing for the whole loop as all the components will be at the top of the case.
