First Time Build

Hi only my second post, so still fairly new to all of this. I basically was really inpatient and didnt do much research and thought it would be easy to build a new rig ha i was very wrong, any ways a month later and a lot of headaches and reading, i am finally getting some where, and now have i think a good solid setup (opinions welcome
__________________ ).I got watercooling wrongly thinking that it was an easy solition for cooling and would make oc'ing easier temp wise. Well further research and the setup i got is not the best and also the temps that i am recording if right, are still quite high at the mo with one folding program running it is about 55oC. So i am looking to get a new cpu water block in the hope to get slighlty lower temps i am also open to any other suggestios you guys might have, so far i have only been able to get up to about 3.7Ghz on my 965 and that is not totally stable, i have tried everything in the bios i can think of and have read everything i can find from google and this forum, so i can only think it is either temp related thats holding me back or it is my power supply as when in am in my bios looking at the voltages there are a few that seem to fluctate a quite a bit, or it could be both, so plz plz any help would be great as i was really hoping for good oc'ing out of this setup ty again for reading and and replys ![]() My watercooling setup is the thermaltake bigwater 760is and my power supply is the 1000w icute from maplin yes i know i should have done more research lol but i am learning very quickly.

The Heatkiller v3 or the XSPC Delta v3 are well regarded. I'm not sure how much of a boost you've get plumbing them into a Bigwater, however. You might be better served with something like this if you must have a kit, possibly replacing the single 120mm radiator with a 240mm radiator that you can mount in the top of the case.
I've just given some examples, I'm sure others will have more detailed input. I'm still fairly new at the watercooling game myself.

Hm, I was hoping someone with more experience than I would jump in on that, but I'll lay out the conclusion I came to for my watercooling loop: overkill is not a bad thing.
The Heatkiller v3 is widely regarded to be the best currently and setting it up with something like an XSPC RX type radiator (like the one linked) would likely yield good results. The RX type radiators are for quiet, lower static pressure/lower air flow fans, the RS type are for faster, louder fans. Combine that with 3/8" or 1/2" tubing, a pump like a Laing DDC (18w) and possibly a reservoir like this which allows you to install the pump in it (takes less room). Obviously dependent on the room in your case you'd go for an RX240 or something similar. If you're only cooling the CPU, the RX240 should be plenty. None of the all-in-one watercooling 'devices' are really that great, it's usually better to do lots of research and come up with a custom loop that fits your requirements. Spend some time reading some of the threads listed here. You'll be a lot more impressed with any setup you make yourself rather than one of these all-in-one setups.

Tt W/C is terrible.
__________________Enzotech Sapphire is great for the price. The block that comes with the Tt is crap. I'd replace the rad ASAP. You'd run into galvanic corrosion problems with it. A cheap alternative is a Pontiac Bonneville heater core.

You're prolly better of getting rid of your whole Thermaltake water cooling kit and getting a high end CPU cooler. But to answer your question, I dont think you'll see much improvement by just changing the CPU water block.
If you really want to get the most out of your 965BE, you should get a individual parts for water cooling. Also, water cooling is going to cost more a high end CPU cooler or a Thermaltake water cooling kit for it to be worth it. So if you want to go water cooling, your wallet should go to. ![]() I would be more than happy to assist you with the parts you need if you like. ![]() Give me a sec. and I will put something together for you.

I put this list together with a small budget in mind. Here you go:
CPU block: Apogee GTZ 1pc. http://www.jab-tech.com/Swiftech-Apo...k-pr-4246.html Radiator: Swiftech MCR320 1pc. http://www.jab-tech.com/Swiftech-MCR...r-pr-3320.html Reservoir: MCR-res v2 1pc. http://www.jab-tech.com/Swiftech-MCR...2-pr-4312.html Pump: MCP655-B 1pc. http://www.jab-tech.com/Swiftech-MCP...r-pr-3803.html Fans: Yate Loon medium speed 3pcs. http://www.jab-tech.com/YATE-LOON-12...d-pr-3770.html Tubing: Masterkleer 7/16" ID 5/8" OD get at least 10 feet. http://www.jab-tech.com/Masterkleer-...D-pr-3079.html Barbs: Danger Den Fatboys 1/2" OD Get six pcs. http://www.jab-tech.com/Dangerden-FB...b-pr-4181.html Coolant: Distilled water(from your local grocery) plus PT nuke http://www.petrastechshop.com/pepcobi1.html The total would be about: $235.27 You could get even better performing parts if you wanna spend more money, but this setup will beat the crap out of your Thermaltake kit. ![]() ![]() I just noticed that you have a coolermaster 690 so you might have to get a smaller radiator or mount the triple radiator at the back or change you case.=)

This is a good build but get heatkiller 3.0. It is close to my build and my system does not break a sweat at 1.6V. I run 48 degrees under full load 34 at idle with the Phenom II 955 and also with the 965. I own both CPU's.
