Default Cosmos S 1100 Watercooling

So, I've decided to delve into the world of Watercooling when I get my new PC early next year, and I want to plan early. I've been looking at the Cosmos S for watercooling because of it's size and it's triple radiator support. My basic plan is to mount a triple radiator at the top and have it cooled by three fans. It'll then go to my CPU, then to the pump, mounted at the bottom of the 5.25 bay area, then up to a 5.25 reservoir, then back to the radiator. It'll look... something like this:

You get the idea.

Now, the questions.

For anyone with a Cosmos S and a watercooling loop, how easy was it to set up the triple radiator? It seems easy enough, but you never know.

Second, do they make 5.25 bay reservoirs/fillports? It would be very handy to have one.

Third, is mounting the pump down below an okay idea? I'm trying to conserve space with the Watercooling to make it visually appealing, and so that I don't have tubes going all over the place.

Fourth, do those spirals that some people put around their tubes have a purpose other than visual appeal?

Finally, what are good brands and products to buy as far as the the reservoir and pump? I've been looking at the GT Xtreme 420 Radiator, and it seems nice, but I could use a second opinion.

Any and all help will be appreciated!

to answer what i can:
1) not sure as i do not own one but it seems very straight forward.
2) yes they do : http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/bi5bayresbla.html
3) yes and actually its usually a good idea to have your pump located in the bottom of your case and below the reservoir as it will make priming the pump and filling much easier.
4) the coils are for looks and they help stop the tubing from kinking when making tight bends
5) a few good pumps to look at would be the D5 Vario (swiftech MCP655) or the MCP355 with an aftermarket top, both will give good results.

EDIT:

Good performance rad: http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/thpa3xra.html or the GT Xtreme 420

from the looks of it u can fit 3 120's and 1 240 and yes they do make a 5.25 bay reservoir. usually makes no diff where u mount the pump as long as u make sure the t line or reservoir is above the pump during filling and bleeding, after which u can mount wherever. the spiral are for sharp bends to avoid kinks in the tubes, zip ties r a cheap alternative tho. that gt xtreme is a decent radiator, any of the black ices usually r decent. good luck

I used to have my rig watercooled in a Cosmos S(I still have the case hehe)

First, it would be best if you arrange you loop like the following:
reservoir>pump>radiator>CPU block>reservoir
This is due to the fact that pumps also puts heat to the coolant, so you want the coolest possible coolant you could get which is the coolant coming straight from the radiator.

2- THe space on top of the Cosmos S is made with a radiator in mind. You could easily fit a triple radiator on top. Also in the top compartment, you could put three 120mm that are 25mm thick fans.(the top mesh is removable and 38mm fans would fit,but it requires modding)

3- I know they make bay reservoirs and fillports, but I dont know about having both in the same unit. You could always use Swiftech MCR-res or the Ekres 150 for your res and still look great.

4- THe pump would be fine where you planned it. Keep in mind that it would better if you're feeding the pump straight from the res.

5-Those spirals are made to prevent kinks from the tubing. But also they serve as bling blings

6-As for the radiator I would recommend the following- Black Ice GTX360 or XSPC RX360 or Feser X-changer 360 or the best bang for the buck rad MCR320. I dont think the GTX420 rad would fit inside the top of the Cosmos S,but I could be wrong because I've never tried it.

As for the reservoir- I would get the Swiftech MCR res V2 or EK-res 150
Pump would be- MCP655 or MCP355. You could also add a "top" on both for better performance and looks.

Edit: You could check my build log if you'd like some ideas.http://www.overclock.net/water-cooli...anagement.html

I own a cosmos s too (i love it!) and i did quite a bit of work on it -i managed to fit 2 3x120 radiators internally. What unleaded said was right, the 3 spots on top are built for radiators (with 15mm fan spacing).

Your best choice for a radiator stems from the noise level you look for. I personally want a quiet system, so i went for a radiator with low fins-per-inch, so i can put low-cfm fans (which are quieter than higher-cfm fans), and i went with the MCR320.

Here are some of the "quiet" radiators:

Swiftech MCR-320
It costs about 50$, and is a 2-pass, single row radiator. It's also the best bang-for-buck radiator because it has the best performance for it's price; however that doesn't mean it's the best performing quiet rad. I beliefe it has roughly 12 fins-per-inch. I use 2 of these, and if you want to mount it on top, you can easily do push/pull with 6 25mm fans.

Thermochill PA120.3
This radiator is one of the upper-end rads in the "quiet" category; it's a dual-row dual-pass radiator, which means it's thicker than the MCR series, but you can easily get away with low-cfm fans (review). It costs about $120, but it's higher in performance than the MCR320. It has roughly 10 fins per inch. Note the newer versions available are G1/4" and 15mm spacing.

Danger-Den SR-1 Series
These radiators are new on the market, because Danger-Den usually make the black-ice series, which are not really "quiet". These radiators have a good build quality, and (in my opinion) are more sturdier than the MCR-320. It's also about 9 fins-per-inch, which means it will work great with low-cfm fans. It costs $140-ish (info).

XSPC RX360
Probably the best dual-row dual-pass radiator there is; it costs 95$ but it's my personal favourite. It has (i think) 10 fins-per-inch, and is relatively cheap amongst the others. not much more to say here...

Feser 360 Xchanger
A bit more on the expensive side costing $160, it is the best triple low-cfm radiator out there (or one of them). It actually has a bit more fins-per-inch (16 iirc) so it's more like a med-cfm radiator. so fans with 1500rpm+ would work great with this one.

those are only the quiet rads, i'll see if i can get some info on "noisy" rads when i get back from work. If you want, you could check out my work log (link is in sig) for my cosmos s.

you may also want to look into the HAF 932, pretty spacious case and alot of people use it for their custom water cooling loops, for instance me. It also houses a 360 radiator on top quiet easily and fits 38mm fans with no modification necessary.

Anyways, if you want a cool and quiet setup go with the XSPC RX360 radiator.. but if you are looking for something louder and more powerful there is always the Black Ice GTX360.

Ooh, thanks for the advice everybody!

@unleaded: Thanks for the advice regarding how the loop should go. I'll set it up like that instead.

@like30ninjas: How loud is a 'loud' radiator? I want something with great cooling performance, but I won't mind some noise. Can you compare it to another sound? Decibels don't really explain much to me, haha.

@crc614: If you loop is the one in your profile pic, then yes, pretty much exactly likethat.
