The main issue here is that he has used colored coolant, so drying out may not even save the board since it is most likely going to stain. If this was distilled water, a 24 hour dry out time would bring that baby right back to life.

Well you have to wipe it down to, if there is even a leak...

It would boot with the 8-pin unplugged? Was he getting beeps? I never saw that.

It may/be ground out somewhere if that happened. Or he already cooked his board turning it on and off if he had a leak.

Yea earlier on in the thread, went through some time of trouble shooting to find it was the 8 pin that is causing this problem. My strongest guess is a leak, but he is swearing to not having any leak problems, which definitely does not add up.

I missed that part. He just needs to break it down out of the case and trouble shoot it since a Clear CMOS and card, ram re-seats didn't work.

He could have a leak, or just be grounded out or something. Who knows. It's nice of you to try and help him all this time though, hope he appreciates it!..

If you have a sound pin plugged in, your board will give you a beep code to give you a heads up its working properly when you try to boot it again. What I would do is just take it out of the case for right now, and just continue letting it set for another day at least. Something could still be moist and shorting out.

If through all this you still can't get it to power up without shorting out, an RMA is definitely in order.
my board doesnt beep afaik, it does have a Debug LED though.

It turned out to be a grounding issue there. Either some water got into the 8 pin connector or perhaps underneath? In any case somewhere where it should not have. Using a hair dryer may help speed up drying out any water. I wonder if a vacuum would also help get any droplets of water out of the board.
yup that's exactly what's happening.

my board isnt cooked. I k now cuz when i power up witout the CPU connector, the Debug LED sits at an 'FF' which is the code for 'boot'. no CPU, no boot obviously :P

It most likely won't be enough to cause a short. It could be though. You could just wipe it off though.
