Default OCZ Hydro Pulse Water Pump 800 advice

I've been comparing and pricing out various pumps and came across the OCZ Hydro Pulse Water Pump 800. So my question is: Are OCZ pumps adequate performers? With a flow rate of 800l/h and a mere $45 price tag it seems a little too good to be true.

I've seen them used in several builds, Have yet to see someone comment on how they perform though, but as Juggalo said, just play it safe and stick with the mcp's.

My OP is asking the question: 'Are OCZ pumps adequate performers?' Not 'What are the best pumps on the market?'.

Has anyone anyone had any hands on experience with OCZ watercooling products? Or heard anything positive or negative about them?

It's the same pump as the DD CPX-Pro. I have the generic version. It pumps well but it vibrates more than any pump I've owned. Others have noticed the vibrations, so I'd be led to believe most of them will vibrate. If you're noise sensitive I'd pick something else, otherwise it pumps great especially for the price. Plus OCZ throws in the fittings.

Good post. Curious, have you done anything to help allieviate the vibration?

Mounting screwed to the case with foam under?

I also was curious about the CPX-Pro/OCZ Thanks.

I have one of each (they are identical) and they preform great, and they do vibrate but not badly. one of the pumps I mounted directly to the radiator and it's quit as can be. the other is connected to the radiator by a short length of tubbing and is just hanging free, also very quiet. They were so quiet that when I installed them and was leak testing the loops I would have to touch them just to find out if they were running.

Another member suspended his with a small bungee system. For now I'm just using some 1" foam because I haven't made up my mind if I'm leaving it on the bottom of the case.

Don't get me wrong, the pump itself isn't what I'd call loud, it just vibrates a lot more than others. It's the vibration that causes my aluminum case to hum and buzz. Without thick foam the harmonics of the pump, HDDs, and fans would combine and get into an annoying rhythm to where I'd have to smack the case to quiet it down. If you've ever heard a twin engine plane flying without the props synched you'd know exactly what I mean.

Who knows, maybe in a sturdier case it may be silent. When it comes time to do it over again I'll probably buy a Swiftech and res-top. But the Jingway, CPX-Pro, OCZ Hydro are all the same pumps in all the same flavors but OCZ throws in some fittings for less money.

That hydro pulse 800 is a solid pump. It's just like the DB-1 except with higher flow, and I think it's got a danger den counterpart. Go for it.
