Default Does a pump have to be the lowest part?

Just like the title asks - Does the pump have to be the lowest part of a loop? I want to have my loop go into my bookcase for stealthness :P Unfortunately my case is on top of my bookshelf

Doesnt have to be, but it SHOULD be below the reservoir, that way it always gets a constant flow of water thanks to gravity.

Not necessarily, it's going to work hard either way, pushing water through the loop or pulling it through the loop.

gravity filling is so much less of a hassle, so its best that its the lowest part.

I'll put the res above the pump. Just the 2 rads are going to need to be below the pump or maybe 2 pumps?

I have recently been trying to figure out the answer to this question as well and actually if you think about it it makes no sense for the pump to be either at the bottom or the top.

If the pump is at the bottom, it has to work really hard to push all the water way back up to the top and is slowing the flow.

If the pump is at the top, it has to pull work really hard to pull all the water from the bottom back up and is also slowing the flow.

The best placing logical placing for the pump would be exactly in between the top and bottom of the loop (preferably the center). That way it has even distribution between push and pull and can work like it's supposed to.

rads cant be anywhere, placment shouldnt have an effect as long as you have a decent pump and the lines aren't too long, if your pump sucks you have other things to worry about

my Laing D5 is above my rad and works fine, all you hear is a little slush of some minimal pockets for air once it starts but it clears out real quick after that

the only problem I had with my pump at the top of my loop (other than it was the only place it would fit) was getting my loop started once installed it too FOREVER to bleed out the air and even the the liquid out of the res into the pump to get flowing, I had to flow on my fillport tube to get the waterflowing up

One serious problem with that: The pump isn't supposed to do any pulling.
