I have browsed these forums a lot but just now registered because there is just way too much info to take in about water cooling for me to sift through all the posts.
__________________I have been using air cooling and had good results, but I want liquid cooling to get better clocks. There's the hard part.. So being new to liquid cooling, I don't know who makes good products, what exactly I need for a "loop", or where to start looking. I looked at the Water Cooling Essentials thread and found some good info, but wow is there a lot of info to learn. It boils down to I need help choosing a good water cooling setup, but I need to know what brands to look at, if the kits are the good way for me to go being new or should I piece a setup together? And if it is better to piece it together, what are all the parts I will need? Money isn't a huge factor. I'd like to spend between $400-500 for a loop setup. From what I can tell that should get me a good setup but let me know if I'm wrong. Thanks to anyone who is bored and willing to help me figure this out ![]() Oh, and if there is a thread that will help me with all of this that I looked over, feel free to link me to it.

Heres a basic list to get you started
__________________CPU Block: http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/heatkilleram21.html Pump: http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/swmc12vdcpuw.html Res: http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/swmcmire2re.html (this is really an ascetic choice, I prefer to use a t-line with a fillport, but this is a bit simpler.) Fittings: http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/big1sishfifo.html Tubing: http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/ty7id11odlat.html (you can get any color, again its ascetic choice. 7/16" ID works well with the 1/2" Barbs. Also, the thicker the walls, the harder it will be to form kinks.) The only other thing you need is a radiator, and that depends on how much of a overclock you are going to do. If you plan on doing some serious overclocks on your 940, then I recommend one of these because they will give you great temps as well as room to expand. http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/thpa3xra.html http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/fex360mmxtpe.html http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/hwlablicegtx4.html Hope this helps.

I was in your situation not too long ago. It really depends what you want to cool in your pc. But the basic parts of a wc setup is:
__________________Radiator - the bigger the better (usually) (3x120mm is enough usually) Brands - Swiftech,Feser,Blackice,XSPC,thermochill, koolance Pump - (look at the GPM gallons per minute / higher = better) brands - i would recommend the swiftech MCP 655 (best bang for buck) CPU block- depends on your cpu socket brands - heatkiller, Swiftech, XSPC, koolance, danger den, EK, Alphacool, Enzotech,Zalman Reservoir- doesnt really matter what you get ( there isnt any performance gain between different kinds, just pick something you like and is suitable for your case) Brands- Bitspower, XSPC, primochill, alphacool, Swiftech,EK, koolance, Tecnofront Tubing- any tubing is fine really (stay away from cheap tubing) just got to look at thikness and bend radius. also ID (inner diamteter must match fittings) Brands- Tygon, koolance, feser, Primochill fittings - usually G1/4 threading. need to fit your tubing also. so OD (outter diameter) must match tubing Brands - bitspower the best imo Fans- for your radiator Brands- way too many. yate loon...etc Liquid- for your system Brands- Feser F one the best imo thats about it. i might be missing some stuff. im just pulling these from my head. Oh btw clamps/zip ties to secure the tubing to fitting

heat killer is really popular around here, i personalty like ek blocks, and swiftech is always a solid bet. for pumps the most widely recommended is the swiftec 655 or the 355/laing ddc. tubing a matter of preference ( i don't advise anything smaller than 3/8)

you might want a new case as well, such as the haf 932 or the cosmos s. I have the haf 932. I was like you, i had a budget of 400 bucks, but had a small antec 900. I spent 150 on a 932, and had to save up for another couple of months to get enough money to water cool.

these other guys all give good advice. some links to check out are
Water Cooling Setups to Purchase Another round of waterblocks on i7 i know those blocks were tested on i7, but most of them have amd mounts too. good online stores include: Sidewinder <- good customer service, cheap shipping, competitive prices PerformancePCs <- good customer service, huge selection, especially fittings, good prices FrozenCPU <- has some stuff cant kind at other places also my reservoir is very nice if you got drive bays free and space is an issues else where in your case, hope some of this helps. i personally got all my stuff from sidewinder's and performance pcs check out my setup, i would recommend everything i got except the radiator (i chose that rad cuz of a space issue)

Awesome. Thanks guys.
__________________As far as OC'ing, I'd like to take it to the limit. I don't like to cheap out on anything, it's a curse sometimes, but I'll spend what it takes to make sure I have a product that isn't going fail. I just thought the $400-500 range seemed pretty average for a nice, reliable setup. And I was actually looking at a different case also, sailorboy. I saw on DangerDen the "Torture Rack" and thought it could be cool, but I don't know if I have room on my desk after I get another monitor on it. I'll end up getting one that is in that list on the sticky thread I'd imagine. Keep the advice coming, though
