Learn something new everyday. I had no idea that things grew in a watercooling setup, nice to know considering i plan on building one soon.

You'll be fine, I turn my rig off at night and have never had a problem with growth, well since I've been using PT Nuke and silver anyway..

I have access to plenty of silver (I make jewelry), so I can put some in my res in a couple of weeks when my new res shows up.

Yup, .965 purity is typically used in jewelry crafting and should suffice as an anti-microbial. Remember, the more surface area the better so if you can flatten out a ring to a thin strip it would be perfect.

Running the coolant through a section of glass tubing exposed to UV-B light at 253.7nm will eradicate *ANY* living organism in it. Use a mercury-vapor flourescent light to generate UV-B light at 253.7nm but be careful because it will cause *serious* permanent skin and eye damage if exposed.
