If there is no number 965 anywhere on the coin, it is not pure/high content silver.

If it looks more white than most shiny metals, then it is silver. Silver has a distinct white color to it.

First off the post in your OP is in regards to American money. We don't use precious metals for everyday coins anymore.

That coin is Canadian.

Yes, it's real silver.

It's .9999 fine silver, I have a 1 oz. American Eagle 2004 Silver Dollar and it's .9999 silver as well.

Edit: Not all silver is .965 pure; that type of silver is only common for jewelry.

of course its silver, its called a collectors minted coin, they come out usually in production sizes of no more than 5000 coins/mint, when it comes to coins, that's rare, its also a $5 coin............Ive never been to Canada but i bet there isn't $5 coins all over the shop being used in everyday currency

i also have a $5 coin, an Australian one, was from the early 2001, funnily enough the value of the coin's silver is worth less than the commercial value of its rarity, that $5 coin you have there usually sell's for about $100+ when they are first minted, way more than the value of a pure silver disc that size , when the commercial available quantity of the coins reduces (due to loss, theft or damage) the value of it increases

as for the colour, pure silver is what they use on the mirrors you use at home, its the most reflective thing found on the planet so far, so when ppl say its not cause i can see the fading, its bolocks imo, its reflecting any colour, if your room aint silver then it will show that colour, given other variables that could affect the colour im surprised you were able to get it to look so silver

btw, even know its a collectors item, and is valued at a currency your country doesn't use (as coins), you still can use it as $5 anywhere in your country, its a minted coin backed by your country, therefore its legal tender to the value shown, just dont be silly and spend a $100+ coin on $5 of lollies at the garage, they are not legally obligated to refund anything over face value

bottom line.. its silver, and keep it...
