I want to build a WC loop with my father, but I am completely new to the WC scene. I have two questions: 1, What components do I need for a simple CPU only loop, and 2, how much would a CPU loop cost? Any help is much appreciated.

CPU block
Barbs Tubing Fans Radiator Pump Reservoir Coolant That's what you need for a basic system. I believe you can make a basic, decent system for about $180. Water cooling is something that you should read up a lot on before attempting.

Bare minimum is going to be:
- Hose & clamps - CPU Block (with barbs, backplate etc) - Water Pump - Radiator - Fans Prices vary widely depending on brand, make, model etc, and also depends if you want to go new or used. If you go new, low end on that would be just under $200. Also, you don't need a reservoir... a simple T-line will work great and is cheaper.

Here's a decent "starter" loop dargo made for me yesterday. I ended up ordering a Megahelms but the loop is decent and low cost: dargo's loop.

The CPU block is pretty much replacing the heatsink, in that it makes contact with the CPU to transfer heat. The Radiator is kind of like a heat dump. It has to be fitted with fans to cool down the warm fluid. The pump is the heart of the cpu loop. It has to be able to move fluid throughout the entire loop. The reservoir allows excess fluid to be stored. A cheaper alternative to this is a t line, but its much more difficult to bleed the air out. You'll also need tubing to connect all the components together, along with barbs or compression fittings. As for your fluid, I would just go with basic distilled water and a piece of silver for antimicrobial purposes. Coolant, like Primochill, Feser, and FluidXP are complete rip offs, and are mostly distilled water based. The dye that they use can also seperate from the water, and tends to clog up blocks. 2) For a good solid loop that has plenty of room for expansion, I would go with about 230-250 dollars. If you just want to do a basic cpu loop, then probably 150-180.

well here are the parts needed:
CPU Block Reservoir or T line Pump Radiator Barbs or comp. fittings Tubing Distilled water PT_Nuke As for the prices, it really depends on what parts you get. It could be easy $200-$500, but since this is your first kit, I'll recommend you to use these link as an example and piece a kit together yourself or any of these kits are great. But if you can piece of yourself for cheaper then thats even better ![]() http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...ducts_id=24646 http://www.petrastechshop.com/pecoba.html http://www.petrastechshop.com/pecoel.html

Don't go 1/4" barbs. The flow rate is pretty bad. Go 3/8 or 1/2. If you go 1/2, use the MasterKleer 7/16, its a tighter fit and can be used without clamps.
You need clamps otherwise the tube could slip off and.... Btw, where are you planning to order from?

Someone will come by and link the parts for you. Here are a few things you may like to read and I'll leave you my cleaning and set-up PDF, it's just real basic stuff in it.
Figure out what kind of rig you want before buying any parts, do you want high performance, quiet or something in between? That will help them set you up in parts. Take your time picking parts, know why your buying them and you'll end up with a rig better suited for your needs. There's a lot of great info in the stickies also. ..FAQ: Planning and Installing Your Liquid Cooling System - Overclock.net ..Water Cooling - In English - Overclock.net - Overclocking.net ..High Temps?
