Hi there.
Some days ago i opened a thread in order to cool down my computer, and despite all the help i got, which im really greatfull about, i want to know what you guys think over here. Since im really concerned about my temps, and i do want a silent rig, i thought about water cooling. Im getting temps around 40º for idle and 80º at load, with an ambient temperature around 20-25º. Is water cooling "complicated" IE: not for newbies? ive read quite a few about water cooling and i understand its not cheap, but i can afford it, i would need some help in setting up a water cooling system, if i finally decide to set it up. So, does water cooling, REALLY make a difference? or could i have similar temps with air cooling?

If your load temps are under stress testing, than you're fine.
If those are gaming/rendering temps, I'd look into better cooling These i7 920's are hot as heck. Even with a super high end cooling system, you're looking at 65C+ under extreme conditions. The big question is, are you running stock clocks? Because at stock clocks with an aftermarket cooler, you should NOT be in the 80's under load. Water cooling is for enthusiasts It's for people that WANT the extra tweaking and tuning and maintenance. If you dont want to put more effort into it, I'd suggest sticking with air. Maybe a good lapping and a remount with some IC7 or MX2 thermal compound. Don't go water thinking it's an easy/safe task. It's as much as you want it to be.

I am running at stock clocks, and the load temps are taken with primal 95, but it reached 80-82º after only 17 minutes.
And when summer comes along, i can expect 40º or more ambient temperature, therefore having worse idle and load temps. I dont expect water cooling to be easy, but before coming to ocn i didnt even open a pc, now i have disembled and mounted back again my entire rig. So i am willing to put effort into it and learn.

I'd suggest reseating the cooler you're using and improving case air flow before spending hundreds of dollars.
80C on stock clocks with an aftermarket cooler is excessive. What is your ambient temperature?

Ive already reseted the cpu cooler, even changed the TIM, as they adviced me on the other thread.
Ambient temp around 20-25º (cant really check, my thermometer isnt working) but the central heating is on, which has a thermostat that controlls the temp to be between 20-25º.

Im goign to spend around 90€ in air cooling (which is OK if it works) but i would really hate to spend that money on AC and then having to go WC.

if you have the money to do it.. do it. I'm highly considering myself. Why not try a cheaper alternative and pick up an h50 first? See if it has any difference than your current cooler. Then if you like it, do the whole thing, can always resell the h50 on here i'm sure.

What are your priorities with your computer? Efficiency? Appearance? How much space do you have? How much maintenance are you willing to do on your computer? If you are willing to do a bit of work setting it up, and willing to do monthly maintenance then a bong cooler might fit your needs. This thread is sort of long, but there are some good 'how to guides' at the beginning of it. http://www.overclock.net/water-cooli...-56k-fail.html
