Default Which CPU block?

TDX, RBX, or Swiftech Apogee?

Is there any other one that anyone would recommend?

I can spend about $80 on a CPU block only

Well, are you looking at a highflow system or a high pressure system? The TDX and RDX kinda work on different methodologies of cooling. One uses jets of high pressure water to push out any 'dead spots' of heated water between the block and the cool water rushing by. The other just uses a huge amount of flow to cool things down. What other parts do you have in your loop right now (or are you looking at right now). I dont know much about the apogee but I think it was to supercede the 6002, which was another highflow block. All of those are good choices but if you have something like a GPU block (maze4?) then I would probably get a TDX with a high flow pump like the MCP-655

I would get the Apogee because of its universal design, price and flow rate. The Apogee performs 1C warmer than the G4 under real world conditions (real life computer use, not tests). The Apogee dosn't require as much matenance as the G4, and UV dye/additive won't clog the apogee up because it dosn't have those jet things that the G4, TDX and RBX have. Shop around for the Apogee, I bought mine for $40 at Jab_tech.com (PM me if you want the discount code that Jazno gave me).

I have the Apogee and it is great. It lets alot of water through. My Eheim 1250 does 317 gal/h and I get 23-25 Idle 33-35 Load with a 3200+ (2.0Ghz stock) at 2.5Ghz and my 6800GS (1Ghz Mem and 425Mhz GPU stock) at 1.5Ghz and 500Mhz. Those are great temps.

Yeah, the Apogee is probably really good because there was a lot of good things about the 6002. Frankly, I like the high-flow loops more than the jet impingement systems. Glad everyone here seems to agree

I really want the Storm though, but thats about $80 and the Apogee would do really close to it or mabey even the same performance.

I guess I'll go for the Apogee then .

PS. I'll stop by Karen Auto Part tomorrow to order Dual Heater Core

Don't get me wrong...the storm is sexy. It might give you better temps with the D5 pump because of the pressure that the D5 has. The way I understand it (please someone correct me if I am wrong) the Storm does better with high head pumps like the D5 and the Apogee does better with high flow pumps like my Eheim.

Do some research ask some more questions around here and really figure out what you want and what will work best for you. Also make sure you shop around for both setups.

I think it is because the Storm requires a more consistent/powerfull flow rate because of it's jet's flow restriction. And I think the Apogee does better with high flow pumps that dont have very high head flow because it just needs the water to be pumped through at a higher speed, rather than being pushed with a lot of force, which the Storm needs.
