I know the Dual HC has 3/8 fitting, can i uncrew the thing out and replace it with a 1/2?

They don't all have 3/8" fittings, it depends where you buy it from. The ones from DD come with whatever you order. The ones from auto parts stores come with something bigger if I'm not mistaken. I believe the barbs 5/8" on the HC but 1/2" tubing barely fits. I had to really lube up the tubing with alcohol to slide them on the barbs.

edit: the HCs from auto parts stores aren't "unscrewable" but you can cut & weld if you got skillz like that

If you haven't ordered any parts yet just stick with 1/2 tubing and fittings. The fittings that were on my heatercore (77' Bonneville) were 3/4 on the intake and the 5/8 on the out. Luckly the 3/4 was for only on the very end and then went down to 5/8.

All you have to do is cut off the 3/4 part and then throw a cup of water in the microwave for two minutes and soak the ends of the tubing in the water till they get warm then you can work the tubing on to the 5/8 pipe. 3/8 isn't going to work this way.

If you really want 3/8 tubing you are going to have to buy a 3/8 male to 1/2 male barb, buy some 1/2 tubing and then bridge the gap between the heatercore and the 3/8 tubing with the 1/2.
