Default System finally decided before TEC

Hey everyone,

I have decided that to run my TEC in the future I would need a water cooling setup anyway. I decided that I will buy a full setup now, minus the TEC and PSU to run it and buy those later when I get the extra money. Here is what I have decided on for my setup:

Hydor L40 : $51.99
Water Wetter Additive $4.00
Swiftech APOGEE Extreme Universal Acrylic Top - ORANGE
1/2 OD (for 1/2 ID tubing) $55.95 $55.95
Typhoon - 120X- UV Blue
1/2 OD for 1/2 ID Tubing $22.95 $22.95
PrimoFlex UV Blue Tubing - 1/2 inch $0.99 $7.92
Red Hose Clamp-1/2 $0.45 $6.75
The Dual Heater Core (Single Pass)
1/2in OD (for 1/2in ID Tubing), $36.00
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Total $185.56

There you have it. Later when I get the money I will just purchase the TEC and PSU and add it to the loop! Any last minute suggestions?

P.S. Everything is ordered from voyeurmods except the Hydor which is from marinedepot. Does anyone know what kind of power connectors the pump will have? It obvioulsy wont just plug into my PSU.

Thanks

From many reviews, people have said the Hydor is quiet in the beginning but starts to make a lot of noise later on.

Noise isn't that much of an issue for me, ive got a 45DB fan on my xp90 right now, so i think i will be okay there. Plus i think its the best bang for the buck pump, $50 for 700g/h and 10ft head.

It is. There is no doubt about that. But people said the thing sounded like it was trying to gag up a couple pebbles all the time and compared to the constant whining of a fan, the Hydor noise might be a little more disruptive.

Hmmm I will definately consider that then, maybe I will look around before deciding on the pump.

Thanks!

I have the exact same pump, and the rumors are true, it does get louder. Anyway, uses wall 120VAC and has 7.5 feet of head, not 10. I suggest you splurge and get teh D5 from Dangerden.

So without a relay kit this pump will NOT run off the PSU, correct?

Correct. Let me outline what a relay does for you:

You plug in a cord from an AC outlet into the relay, then wire your pump into the relay. Separate cords. Then, plug your molex into the relay and you're golden.

Ok thank you. I decided to go with a pump that can be plugged in so I dont need to buy a relay kit. I will be getting the Danger Den D5 12v pump so I can plug it into my PSU. I have also decided how the tubing and such will go. Below is a crude mspaint drawing of what it will look like. Between steps 1+2 the tubing will be going from the pump, through a hole in the plexi glass to the external circular res. Then again between steps 5+6, the tubing will be going from the heatercore, through the plexi glass and to the cpu block. This will take some modding, but that is the fun part.
