Your temps are good enough with air that you can hit 4.0. Intels are ok up to the mid 60s. WC is more rewarding, but it also is more mantience intensive. Your air is performing very well, and you won't do that much better with water.

do you have any insight as to why i cant hit higher then 3.87? i mean i have ddr 500, temps are ok never even seen a 50 degree temp, just cant get any higher. plus, i think watercooling is nifty. dont have the cash for it atm though unless i can sell this rig and build a new one.

So a resivoir does have a performance increase to some degree. Mine was not to hard to make, I used hose washers, some barb I found at Ace Hardware, and a $1.29 Rubbermade 1 Gal container!

Actually #3 is not true totally. It doesn't matter how much water you have in your system because your pump is constantly pushing the water past the CPU. It will warm up to a normal temp and stay there. It will take longer to warm up when you start the computer the more water you have, but it will level out to one temp. The "performance gain" would be around a degree.

Key word there is fluctuating. You need a better power supply that can supply steady power. The difference between 1.39 and 1.440 is a lot and could be the reason you CPU can't go any higher. I'd look into the Sunbeam Nuuo 550W PSU.

I have to disagree with you on that. If you have more water, the water stays closer to room temperature. This is because there is more water to heat. It is like trying to heat a small pot or water or a large pot of water, which one takes longer? If you have a small amount of water, the water temperature will be higher, and if they water temp is higher than the amount of heat that the water can take away from the processor is smaller.
