refer to my sig on how to lap your IHS

edit: btw, about the liquid metal - DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT USE IT NEAR ANYTHING ALUMINUM - IT WILL CAUSE A VIOLENT CHEMICAL REACTION AND BASICALLY DISSOLVE THE ALUMINUM

just settle for AS5 or what my favorite paste is, shin etsu g-751 (what they use on $10,000 HP servers)

Actually Shin Etsu X23-7783D is better. It's what I use. It is a finer paste and works better for lapped surfaces. G-751 is better for chipsets because it is thicker.

I've got enough left in one tube for a few apps. If you want to give it a go I could send you it if you gave me a buck or two.

atomic , i had the same problem with the concave in the IHS , so i removed mine . My temps dropped 6-7c so i know there was an issue with it somewhere. The cpu thermal grease looked like brittle silicon if that makes sense. The cpu basically looks like an old athlon xp, so i just treat it like one , im just real carefull tightening the waterblock . Im getting 9-10c idle from the outside air(-5c) 22-23c load . GL rukkee
