Question Quietest Pump Suggestions: CSP-MAG ?

Hi All,

I'm wondering what your experiences of the quietest pumps are? From what I've read so far, the CSP-MAG seems to be the quietest many have experienced.

I've got my BigWater SE running in leak-test mode. The pump seems pretty darned quiet, though I am getting noise that I'm hoping is air in the pump--a sort of a metallic popping noise like a little diesel engine--bubbles? Will this go away if I manage to get all the air out of the pump?

I've tried tilting the case, but with the pump installed I cant get it's inlet/outlet vertical without sucking air out of the reservoir (I've topped it up as much as I can). And I installed the pump so that I cannot unbolt it from the case without breaking the coolant loop. Oh well, I'll probably do that this afternoon, and attach it with velcro--I figure that will give better noise isolation anyway.

Thanks for any help!

MCP350 is probably the quietest I know of, 26dB max... but I've never heard mine... ever! Most fans are louder than this pump.

yeah i have the csp and it is almost completely silent, though i doubt the popping noise is a pump issue. it can take many hours for the air to get out of a system in leak testing, you should see them if there making noise.

Default There was a bubble in the pump inlet

Thanks for the advice, Jazino. I had the system bled so that there were no bubbles circulating, but was still getting that sharp puttering noise, like a little engine. I got the pump unmounted so that I could turn it with its connections on top and, sure enough, a bubble came floating up out of the inlet. I'm hoping that bubble was trapped there the whole time, and causing the noise. I'll find out when I get my new mount made.

I hope this helps somebody else.

Stay cool!

Thanks for the rec--this pump would fit better in my mount than the CSP-MAG. Has either you or Snerp heard both pumps?

Thanks again.

I have the Danner Mag5 [AC] and it is not loud at all. I cant even hear it over my northbridge fan. 500GPH max head is 11ft. Very awesome pump. best thing to keep it quiet would be to isolate it from the case. here is a picture of a good isolator. You could prolly make one with a little block of rubber.

the mcp-655/D5 is also a very quiet pump, and the most powerful silent pump currently available
