hey guys i just got done with my custom watercooling setup which consists of a dd tdx block, d5 pump, bonneville heatercore, and a resvior. i got all the visable air bubbles out and started it with only distilled water in before i add antifreeze. i went into the bios and my temp was 80c!!!!!! so i reseated the block tried again. and it was 77c!!! still crazy. the flow goes res., pump. into the right right side of heatercore (if looking at the barbs), out the left side, to the block, back to res.

any idea if i could have a defective part? all flow seems good. also does in and out on the hearercore make a difference?

That's the way mine is set up, in the right out the left, hc, block. I'm in low 30's so I would look at something else. Are your fans working good, enough air flow to them and the rad? Maybe dirty rad fins, is the hc new or used? are you using a shroud?
Might have got some solder or Teflon tape inside something, maybe air block in rad, can you hear gurgling through the rad?

Those are somethings that come to mind.
You sure your block is mounted right? did you apply the as5 right?

Something is not right here, no way it would jump right up yo 80c even with the fans off, I can leave my fans off for hours and it will not hit 40. You must have some kind of restriction or air trapped in the block or a seating problem. Is your heater core new?

Agreed! I'd guess you are getting no flow, or your block isn't touching. It sounds like you have flow, but make sure.

If your water is moving at all, I'd say your block isn't working--out of contact, or air bubble somehow--probably out of contact. Check to make sure it's seated correctly, and there isn't anything in the way--screw heat, piece of debris, etc.

Agreed somethings not right but if it wasn't making contact wouldnt it fry like that? I remember reading that today's cpu without a hs will cook, done, gone, let the smoke out in 5 sec,. Is this true?

I'm not an expert on that, but my semi-educated answer is "close, but not quite".

My impression is, some of the earlier Athlons, with an exposed chip rather than an Integrated Heat Sink, would die almost instantly if run without a HS. Patrick Norton was famous for doing this on The Screensavers a couple of years ago.

My understanding is newer chips with IHS (i.e. a metal cover, chip not exposed) don't die, but just shut down immediately--computer might not finish the boot process. I'm not sure of any of this--this is just my impression.

In this case, the waterblock may be touching a little, but not correctly.

everything in the loop is brand new, the flow seems really good at all parts of the loop, and when i stick my finger in the res the water is really chilly. i am going to try and reseat the block and then see if i have a massive air bubble in the block as welll. thanks for the replys if you have any more ideas or if this has happend to you let me know how you fixed it.

i try to boot to bios as fast as possible to check temp then shut it off real quick

Well, if your water is moving and cold, then it sure seems like the waterblock isn't making good contact.

The key is making sure it contacts flat and even--DON'T OVER TIGHTEN IT!!!

I'm guessing yours may be ****ed (<--EDIT: OMG--it censored the word that can refer to a male chicken or a tilted object!! ) --tilted and not lying flat and making good contact. I suggest you loosen all your mounting screws. Then start, with the screws loose, by pressing on the center of your WB so it makes good, flat contact. Then, while still pressing, tighten up your mounting screws alternately and a little at a time, so you put pressure while keeping the block flat. It doesn't need much pressure, so don't go nuts.

MOTHER OF JESUS IT WAS THE WATERBLOCK!!!!!!!!!! i dis mounted my block cleaned reapplied the AS5 and then when i put it back in place a notice it was bearly, i mean bearly touching a transistor on the left side of the cpu, #&$#!! so i pushed it over just a little and installed it again. i started the computer quickly went into bios and to my amazement was at 35C YES YES YES tested at load 43C i love water.

i am now on this computer and will be doing a post of my whole build i have all this internal on a mid tower, that was originaly a HP case lol.

i love water soooo much i want to take the cap off my res. and make out with my water lol, but before i add the antifreeze.

i tried giving reps to everyone thanks alot oh did i say i love water!
