Default Finaly finished, but temps are WAY high.

Ok well I finaly got my water cooling kit done, turned the system on, went into bios to see what the temps were, and pow, the fricken CPU is idleing @ 72C, this is with all 4 fans running at mid speed and AS5 on the block and CPU. Im not sure what the deal is but I have no intention on running my system at those temps. Anyways I took the clock back to stock speed, loaded windows and checked the temps in speedfan, the CPU idle was at 66c and then dropped to 56-57c, I did a 1m superpi shot and within 5 seconds the temps had jumped from 57c to 72c. Not to sure what the problem is but Im gonna lean towards the pump or tubing, I have no bubbles, and no kinks in the line, but I do have about 3 foot from the rad to the cpu and then about 2 foot to the res. My pump is a 370gph pump with a 6' head, I can see the water flowing pretty good. All the line is pretty much level cept the part going into the water block. Maybe I didnt put enough AS5 on or something but its not my first time applying this. Any quick thoughts on what the problem would be?

Ok, well I guess I didnt have the block tight enough, the springs are bottomed out now, and it went from 57c-29-30c idle. Man I dont know if I like that thing being so tight, just curious, is it normal to have to tighten it down this much? Im just glad I kept the TT back plate on from the Big Typhoon.

I wouldn't want to have my springs that tight either. I suggest backing off, gradually and alternately, until you have some uncompressed spring.

Have you looked around to see if the block is hitting an obstruction, like a cap or something?

Glad your temps dropped!

Could be that you put to much themal compound of the type you used ..Too much can be as bad as not enough..Just put a bb sized amount on the cpu die then place the w/c block on and tighten gently down until you are happy..This spreads the compund evenly and thinly

Yeah I dont like it, but it does run alot cooler now, as far as I can see there is nothing hitting the block, Im just not use to seeing my whole mother board, LOL

Yeah I use only a BB size of paste(its about the 15th time Ive done this) I will try a few things and see if I cant get it to run a bit better.

Guess what your right on the money, there are 2 caps at the very top of the block, now how the hell am I gonna fix that? Well I guess this expailns this issue and Im sure my board is flexing do to this issue. Im gonna try and flip the block around, and see what happens, if this doesnt work I guess Ill take the dremel to the block and hope I dont punch through the base, this is rediculous(sp)

Ok I turned the block over, and idle temps dropped from 34-29c, and now my load temps at 3.45ghz are bouncing between 34c and 36c. Its working much better now. My load temps have dropped 10c from last night. Thanks guys. Reps for you.

Rockin' good news! Congrats!

Makes sense that your cores would have different temps with a tilted wb, but the same with good contact. Fun stuff!

Only 1 core reads right the other is just a hit or miss sort of thing. Doesnt matter if I run dual stress tests or not, the only difference from single to dual tests is the main core (core 1) gains about 2-5c in temps and thats about it.
