Only problem I had with doing the TDX replacement top (Believe me, I tried) was positioning the inlet perfectly!

While the outlet has about 3-5mm of breathing room on each side for them to be put in, The inlet has 0mm breathing area, Its either get it dead on, Or the barb is too far in, Or its overlapping the seal thats in the copper groove which lifts the lucite just far enough above the seal to cause a leak!

Alright, I am not going to let something like this take me down. I only have a week to use my parent's tools and space to get WC installed. This isn't going to stop me!

Alright, enough of the dramatics. So I went to ACE hardware today and bought a 12"x12" sheet of 1/4" acryllic and cut a small rectangle to roughly fit my motherboard. Then I bought a jig-saw blade and 3/4" holesaw to cut out a space for the tubing.



Then, I CAREFULLY marked and drilled holes that would actually fit my stupid mobo. I really don't want to buy a new case, mobo, power supply because I am saving for a new X1900XT and that would put me way in the hole. So here is everything but the ports cut out:



Now, I was INCREDIBLY careful and made marks and used a holesaw to cut the barb holes. Talk about measure twice, cut once? How about measure six times and cut once! Here is the final product!

Now all I have to do is leak test the thing and hopefully I will have a perfectly useful waterblock for my CPU.



So some of you are asking why I am even bothing to watercool my XPS. Well, the issue is less my CPU and more with my GPU. I can get a pretty decent OC on it now but it goes up to about 62-63C and thats just way too hot for me. I already have an arctic silencer on it, have added a 120mm intake fan to the front of the case and a fan RIGHT on the cpu shroud (if you know what the inside of an XPS looks like). I even reversed the rear fans to both push out air. To make a long story short, I have modded this as far as air will take me and I just need a little more performance, at a lower decibel rating.

Thus, I am not just going to watercool my graphics card. If I am doing this I am going the whole 9 yards. Thus, I am going to remove the massive heatsink cooling my prescott and going to remove all unnecessary fans. Once this is all said and done, I should still have a 120mm intake, which will still push plenty of air over non-watercooled components as well as the two 120mm fans on my Black Ice Dual 120mm radiator. Bam, nice and cool.

And what the hell, I LOVE modding, so why not?

I just want you to know that an X800 can take over 90c load and still be totally fine, I mean if you WANT it to be cooler thats you but the reccomended max is 90c....I know where you come from though, I never let mine get past 55c with my AC Silencer (my X800XL I mean)

90C? That would heat up everything else as well. Yeah, I know that the component threshold is like 110+C but still, its not like I wanna hit that or anything. Not to mention, just because you don't break anything at that temperature does not mean that the components will work fine at such high temps. I mean, the reason most people's OCs are not stable is most because of heat (and imperfections in the chips). So, if I can keep the core at 48C, whoo hoo. Even better, I can run only 3 fans (vantec stealths) and really keep noise down while gaming (gotta hear those Terrorists sneaking up on me).
