Angry WC catastrophe: Un-Believable

So I finally got all of my watercooling gear ready to go. I have really been excited about finishing this project since Christmas. So I get everything taken apart and take plenty of pictures to put on the forum and I finally get to the CPU waterblock. I take the old cooler off, get the AS5 off, blah blah blah. I go to put the new block on and this is what I see:

Now call me crazy, but this is a LGA775 block and a LGA775 mobo.

Now here is another view. The posts just DONT LINE UP. Now, from the pictures you also see this is a Dell mobo, and I understand that a lot of what they do is proprietary. However, other people have done this and, actually have one speculation. What is the bracket size is actually the distance of an old 478 mobo. Anyone else think this could be the case. I put a ruler by the picture so you get an idea of how far apart the posts are.

This is immensely frustrating for me, and any input or help would be greatly appreciated. Please, no Dell jokes, I am really not in the mood. Thanks again.

Can you make it fit with new holes or is it just not going to do it??

EDIT: make a plate out of a piece of wood maybe.

Well it seems the only way out now is to get a new mobo (best idea) or to go back to the stock aircooling. The only other thing you could do drill new holes in the waterblock arms or rig up some ziptie mounting method.

Hmmm... you could by a larger piece of plexiglass, cut a hole in the center to clear the barbs & what not, drill holes at the correct spacing, and use that has your holdown.

Or you could epoxy plexi or metal extensions to your top plate, and run your bolts through that.

Sympathies, and hope this helps.

EDIT: For whatever consolation it offers, the worst watercooling catastrophe is when it leaks and destroys your entire pc. When I saw your headline, that's what I was thinking!

Yup, Curse of the dell!

That looks almost identical to Socket A mounting though... If you don't want to buy a new motherboard, Can you get the dimensions of the mounting holes?

Because if I'm seeing what I'm thinking, You could just drop $10 and get the Socket A lucite replacement top for the TDX!

And that is exactly what I was thinking. Using a ruler, I found the two posts to be 5cm wide and 8cm tall. Does anyone know if this is an actual socket size or some crappy propriatary board size?
