Default Turn off or not turn off?

Hey guys,
As most of you know, I just got my WC setup installed and going. I was wondering, should I leave my system on all the time now or should I still turn it off every night? I am not really sure what is best for the pump and everything. Just wondering about your thoughts on the issue.

The pumps are designed to last a very long time so leave it on and even get it folding It will be fine, electrical equipment lasts longer in a lot of cases when just left running, the hardest part for the equipment is at startup.

Well, in a perfect world.....you should really turn your computer off every night, or at least once every couple days to clear your physical memory banks....as Windows tends to eat up memory and your computer gradually slows down....But it's all a member of personal preferance....

I alsways turn mine off at night.....buy a kill-a-watt and you'll want to save your energy bill too....

Well in all honesty leaving your system running 24/7 will be no cause for concern provided you have a fail safe shut down for temperature overload.

I had my old Hydor L20 pump running 24/7 for about 10months and prior to that the previous owner had it running for 16months straight 24/7 with no problems in operation occuring.
Yes you will limit the effective lifespan but by how much ? you will most likely upgrade before then.

The only other consideration is the fans for the radiator and case airflow but hey thesee are quite cheap to replace now. I have 2 120mm VANTEC STEALTHS that have been running 24/7 (less downtime) for the past 18months and show no signs of failure or noise.

cheers

Does noone notice the windows temporal slowdown....it exists people....it really does....

Also, if you care about your electric bill, running a high end system and a WC system eats up a crapload of power....

I turn mine off at night now and have saved 50 dollars on my electric bill.

I havent noticed any problem with a slowing down of the left on rigs, yes they seem to be better after a re-start every now and then but not every night, as long as you keep the system clean of spyware it should be fine. XP is a far cry from the previous OSystems we have had to deal with. REP++ for Bill

I find a simple case of shutting down the sytem every week or so to take the side panel off and clean out the fans and heatsinks and motherboard of dust etc. affords the same results.

Yes well unfortunately in 'the land of the free' you tend to reallly pay through the nose for utilities..hehehe least that is one benifiet we have over you..cheaper power and water but that may change.

cheers

Maybe, I've run Windows systems (XP Pro) for weeks at a time without any noticed problems. Even then though, simply turning it off for 5 minutes would be enough, no need to shut it down for 8 hours.
