what kind of temps can i expect with a d5, prescott, x850xt, a 120mm radiator, and 1/2 tubing. Im thinking of buying some things so I can atleast fit a double 120mm radiator in the bottom.

34 C or so idle on the cpu, 40 C or so idle on the gpu.
41-42 C or so load on the cpu, 46 C or so load on the gpu.

Not 100% sure about the x850 because Im sure if they run colder or warmer than a 6800GT? I think they run pretty hot, no?

now are these temps consistent as compared to aircooling. Being that they wont jump around as much. Also what can i expect from a double 120 radiator.

Air temps are much more jumpy than water. On water, then temps dont jump around. A dual 120mm radiator is big and clunky, but gets the job done for sure. I'd recommend a heatercore actually, because they generally perform better than radiators. Make sure to use a shroud and have two fans blowing though it or sucking off it (your choice). CFM isnt important, go for silence. I have two masscool 100CFM fans on mine and they're always on the lowest my fan controller will go. Running them on full blast makes VERY little difference.

thanks for the help. Im going to see what i get with the single 120mm first and then see if i want to upgrade. I am trying to keep everything in the case and its hard with the design of my case. I am pondering about buying the lian li 34B 5.25 to 3.5 converter to move the hdds up into the 5.25 rack and then have my pump and radiator solely at the bottom.

The main disadvantage of watercooling is the bulk. I have my double heatercore and pump outside my case.

yeah when i first got into the water stuff my main goal was for it to perform and to keep it inside the case. I like the stealth look.

My personal recommendation is, if you're even thinking of a double radiator, do it.

In my opinion radiators offer the biggest bang for the buck, with no downside apart from cost and bulk. The bigger the rad, the lower the noise at any given temp, and the lower the ultimate temp you can achieve. Quieter and better performance--what's not to like about that?

If you can't fit it inside, you could by the Swiftech Radbox, and hang it on the back.

It'd be nice if you could mount the rad at the top, even if external, because you can exhaust through your rad for good airflow. At the bottom you'll be fighting convection, but I would still suggest exhausting rather than intake, just because I hate heating the air entering the case, even a couple degrees C.

thanks for the advice. I just ordered the last part to my system and already have a single 120 in my hands now. Im going to try it out and see what happens. I got extra tubing (20feet) so the refitting for a double rad is no problem. My case is a little diffrent from your standard atx case. In the bottom there are tiny holes everywhere for ventialation. And the case sits up on wheels so i can easily exhaust the radiator from the bottom. Im going to take some measurements and see what I can do.

Cool. If I were you, and I had room, I'd just keep the single and add the dual. I have a single, and I'm adding a triple, arr arr arr.
