Okay, I’ve been going around trying to find a solid cooling solution for my P4 550, as of right now the cpu is running way to hot so there is no way I can overclock. After a while of searching liquid cooling is become a more and more viable and tempting offer, especially since it was pointed out to me that if I have the money why waste it on a HSF now and a further down the road, a liquid cooling system.
So basically I would like to ask you’re opinions on the situation. Also as you can also see I have a 7800GTX which I have stripped from a dying rig so I would also like to reach potential on the CPU’s par. Mainly it’s the CPU I have in mind but a vga block might be a nice addition. Here are my options I could: A) Buy a big typhoon/xp-90/xp-120, and attempt my OC at 4 GHz. B) Buy a liquid cooling solution with some help and push the chip even farther (from what I’ve heard it hits 4.5GHz on water) I would also like to keep temps low as of now I am doing around 50C idle and dangerously high at 67C on load (I even saw 79C, ouch) Now as for budget I was hoping somewhere around $150, but like all things I could stretch it but I am looking for the best performance for the cheapest price if I do go for liquid cooling. Might also have to check the space issue, so I included a pic of the inside of my computer. All and all would it be worth it for a budget of ~$150 to get a liquid cooling so I can get some decent temperatures and push the chip to be in par with my graphics card. Thanks for any possible help

It will cost a bit more than that unless you build everything yourself. Cheaper commercial water kits are little better than you can get on a good air system that would cost less. If you are serious about water you have to think heater core and good cpu block or at least high end commercial stuff. There are many ways you can put something together. But yes it is worth it, just for the fun!

Yup part by part, I just sold (pending) a custom kit for $175. I have heatercores left, you can pick up parts here and there.

Defintely dont go with a low budget Pre assembled system (I.E. Evercool,Theramltake big water) they are waste of time and money.
It also looks like you would be Limited as far as space inside your PC. Which isnt a bad thing because Exteranl Rads work much better. I would recommend purchasing your parts piece by piece. Or I'm Sure fstfrddy will have one of his complete custom ones for sale again soon.

Thanks everyone,
__________________any recommendations on brands or parts I should look for? I was also hoping to go internal but if external is the only way then it would work too. I also went to a computer store the other day and they had a Thermaltake Water Level Indicator on sale for $14.95 ($49.95, was regluar price) from what I understand its not a necessary component but for the price should I grab it? I do plan however to be buying all the rest online.
