Default Water with X2 heatsink

As some of you may no the new X2 proccessor PIB heatsinks have copper heat tubes. Would it be possible/worthwhile to mod the ends of the copper and hook it up to a pump and resavor and see a decrease in temps. I have my system with one of these heatsinks and I get a max 100% load temp of 35C.

It is copper pipe but it is rather small. If you have an extra you could see if the piping is hollow. There would have to be flow for it to cool properly so there would need to be an inlet and exit on all tubes. I have thought about hybrid water/air coolers for a while but mostly have thought about mounting a heatsink and fan on a waterblock. Something else that could work is to drill a couple of 1/2" holes in the side of the referance cooler and run copper tubing through those and run it to your water cooling reservoir and your radiator. I beleive you may be able to disipate more heat this way.

With the heatsink there are two inputs and two outs..i was thinkin of puttin some fittings on it and hooking it up to a pump and resavor and radiator...i know that the pipe is not that big but since this thing is keepin max tem around 35C then keeping the pipes cooler whinch intern would cause a temp drop...i was just wondering at what you guys think.

Those are heatpipes. They move the heat from the base up to the fins of the heatsink. Generally hollow but contain a fluid and a wick. The fluid boils in the base changes phase (absorbing heat) and moves to the colder end of the pipe, where the fins are. It condenses (releasing heat) and is absorbed by the wick which moves it back to the hot end.
Yeah, you don't want to cut those up to run water cooling through them.
