I am not sure if you want to leave it on 24/7 or turn it off. Putting it in standby will basically use nothing except some power. Hibernate will save all the info that is open and bring it back to its state when turned back on. Neither of those options is having the computer on 24/7. 24/7 means you pretty much never turn off the computer, its always on.

A better option would be to get a fan controller that has all the sensors in built and doesn't require windows to help it work. You can set when to turn the fans on and off automatically according to temperature or times. I have one and it is really the only way and they are not expensive I cant ever see a need for hibernation unless you are trying desperately to save power or it is a laptop on battery power. For me once the rig is turned on for the first time ever it is never turned off unless it needs a re-start or I am doing some hardware mods\repairs to it

So I can't really tell yo what hibernation does sorry

yeah if I were you I would just get a fan Controller and hook your fans up to that...Then you can leave the comp on 24/7 and then turn the fan down a little bit when you are not using it or at night and you will be set...
I have a fan on my CPU that is a monster loud when it is on full blast if I did not have that fan controller on it i would go nuts...
