Default Combo Radiators

What is everyones opinion on combining radiators. e.g one 120 mm rad inside the case and a 3.120 on top of the case. Would I run into flow issues? Should I just get rid of the 120? As of right now with 1.58 vcore i get a load temp of 50-52. What can i expect by adding a 3.120 rad. Thanks!

well if you've got a strong enough pump I see no problems w/ keeping the smaller rad. the more surface area the cooler you can potentially get your water. You could probably even run the single rad passivly inbetwen your cpu and gpu just to cool the water down a bit before it reaches the gpu. In that instance you'd want to make sure the tripple rad was before your cpu block in your loop.

But you'd want a pretty high flow pump or you would run into flow restriction problems (maybe) or if your pump is a smaller one you could always do 2 pumps in series.

I tested a similar settup with my old wc. I had a 120mm rad, and eventually added a dual heatercore to the loop. I found that the difference between the 120mm and the 120mm + heatercore was almost negligable. The only difference was about 2 deg C in idle and load temps. So I would not expect a large drop in temps, and I would almost advise your save your $. Ambient air temp, size of res, and flow rate seem to be more important in a wc settup then the number of radiators.

i agree with this... but i wouldnt buy another rad. if you already have it, then i say go for it. depending on where you mount it and all.. is gonna really effect your pump. which pump do you have BTW?

When my room hits 71F, I hit 50C on my core loaded- I feel my radiator getting warm. I will attest soon to the fact that it does reduce temps, esp. in warmer climates.

in all honesty, there's no need for anything more than a single triple radiator for just about any system unless you're running pelts on the CPU, chipset, and 2 GPU's
