I wouldn't use anything around the house for any length of time. Pure water will get nasty pretty quickly and anything with chemicals in it can ruin the integrity of your tubing over time. Also, the water coolant will have much better thermal properties than anything else. Your local computer shop should have several choices for you and several UV reactive colors if it matters to you.

yeah, you can just top off your system with distilled water. There is already additive in your loop to stop corrosion. Then you can shop around for what you want to add and what color you want.

Distilled or deionised water. Its easy enough to get - its used for car coolent and in irons. Add to this a little ethan-1,2-diol antifreeze to discourage algae, and you have a coolent thats just as good as any of the expensive ready-made ones.

In an emergency - if your cooling system just leaked empty and you have urgent work to do - tap water will do for a time. Its not good for the system though, so replace it with deionised when you can.
