My rad from Xie67 is of very good quality and is not having an issue at all dealing with what I am doing to it.

I also run the silverprop water block and it is of the best quality, all copper and very strong indeed. As mentioned PC case gear have them cheap, as silverprop are not doing this sort of business anymore you might be able to email them(silverprop) and get a better deal again. I have with a number of cold plates as they are clearing it all out.

When he showed me pics of it it looked really expensive and out of my budget.. I probably should of asked how much it was but oh well ill see how this heater core performs before making any decisions. (BTW im talking about the 3x120mm heater core he showed me)

hey btw do u think my pump is strong enough i hooked it up just before and gave it a run through and it wasnt very powerfull? is this normal?

How powerful are you talking about, is it dripping out or a very slow flow, what is the difference compared to having the rad not connected. If it is real slow then the rad could be restricting. If it is restricting now then it is only gonig to get worse as the waterblock will restrict a little too.

I think you might have some trouble converting that pump to inline--How about a good close picture of the regulator part of the pump--maybe you could screw or glue something on it to fit a barb to....

Actually my latest project could use that giant heatercore....looking good--is there any documentation on the pump re: head /flow? Even a wimpy pond pump should squirt pretty good....

1500lph/396 US Gallons, 2.5m/8.2feet Head--Its on the previous page That should be plenty, that is similar to what I am using and it is flowing with no problems at my end through the rad and the block. Try and blow out the rad you have, maybe it is blocked somewhere given that it was probably sitting around for a little while, something is probably trying to live in there. LOL

Get ya garden hose and connect it and see what happens, you can also get some white vinegar and fill it and soak it for a day or 2, that can help clear out some of the gunk.

I think i will just leave it as submersible.. so i dont end up ruining it.. :P

Yes it turned out that there were some cob webs in there and dust. Its all gone now. Thanks for the advice.

YAY while i has on holiday my fans arrived in the mail! For those of you who missed the earlier posts the fans I chose for my setup where 2x(4x NMB 3615KL) 1 set pushing and 1 set pulling. Below is a photo of one of the fans:


And below is all the fans on the radiator.


BTW I plan on building a shroud to attach the fans on either side and speaking of shrouds does anyne know how deep a shroud should be ie the distance between the radiator and the fan???

Also upon looking at the connectors on the fan i noticed they had this weird plug which i havent ever seen or used before (I apologize for the uber bluryness of this photo..)


Will this work with a normal P4 power supply or do i have too buy adaptors.. please help Im worried that I have bought the wrong type of fans....

I would just cut them off and wire multiple of them up to a single 4 pin molex and plug them in. Then you'll have less plugs to deal with.

as long as you wire them in parallel and do not exceed the rated amperage of the wire--they appear to draw .5 amp so you should be able to wire 4 to a molex w/o a prob. Great fans! Red and Black should be the only ones to worry about.

If you want to get fancy wire them up for 3 pin including the tach wire and hook them to a decent controller like the CoolerMaster AeroGate3--2 Aerogates could monitor and control all 8 fans--if one craps out an alarm sounds...plus each Aerogate has 4 temp monitors--so you could have 8 probes...too much fun.

I am unaware of a mathematical formula to derive the ideal distance--but 2" should do the trick and I have seen commercially available shrouds that have only one inch gap from fan to rad.
